Going over the stats of the various archdevils, did anyone else find that certain archdevils stats didn't make sense? Looking at Glasya, her Int and Wis are way too low for being the archdevil that is known for finding the loopholes in contracts and exploiting them. I know I will be making modifications to the various stats as some are just too low and some are too high for how some are renowned to be.

Hi, i purshated the Premium hardcover edition, but im not sure if i recieved the normal one or the premium.
How can i check if i have the normal or the premium?

Because i checked the link "What is the difference between B&W, Premium Color and Standard Color?" and it looks more like the standard one, or at least less shiny than the dnd books.
I just wanna make sure that i have the correct book. Don't misunderstand me, what i recieved looks fabolous.

If you have confirmation that your order was received it can take 2-3 weeks, sometimes more depending on print volume, for your book to be printed, and then however long it takes to be shipped. You should receive a shipping confirmation at that time.

In Chapter 3, there is a comment block about the Temptation of Anger "Sentient Artifact" and tells the GM to reference the "“Sentient Artifact” temptation event found in chapter 2". Why? WHY? Don't you just put the page it's on???? A DM scrambling to find something a chapter back is not fun. Just reference the page number, simple!

From a reviewer on YouTube, this book contains a depiction of someone tied to an upside-down cross. Christianity is not in the Forgotten Realms cosmology. Adding symbolism from real-world religions breaks the immersion and could cause issues at the game table.

Crosses and crucifixion existed long before Jesus, and before they had any religious affiliation. That's like getting upset that a candle, or a lamb is used because they're religious symbols.... the only one making it religious is you.

You misunderstand. I'm referring to the upside-down cross which is a symbol that originated from the story of the Apostle Peter and has since been used as a real-world religious reference. For it to be included in a book about the Nine Hells, showing a devil putting people on an upside-down cross, alludes to the Forgotten Realms containing Christian and anti-Christian teachings, which can be problematic.

No, you seem to misunderstand. That is still a form of crucifixion. Peter is just one person. It's impossible to be precise but certainly tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands, and conceivably even more people than that have been crucified. 6,000 people were crucified on a single day in 71 BCE, in the aftermath of Spartacus' rebellion. Its a very famous torture device. Crosses are still used today in BDSM, even upside down ones. That doesn't mean it has anything to do with Christianity. And furthermore, this is a book for DMs. If you don't like something in it, you don't have to include it.

You're still not getting it. I mentioned the origins of the upside-down cross and its real-world, religious significance as being problematic in an RPG book where it doesn't belong in the cosmology (particularly for a company who places heavy emphasis on avoiding cultural appropriation and sensitivities). You keep referencing the history of crucifixion which is not what we're talking about. My comment was intended to let WOTC know about something that could be a concern for their product. To use your own phrasing: If you don't like my comment (or don't understand it), you don't have to comment back.

Jo L, I agree with you and think you are correct. This is a matter of consistent, non-hypocritical application of the policies of WOTC. If you're going to have a policy, apply it consistently. Otherwise, get rid of it.

How exactly does it break immersion? How are you so sure that tying someone to an upside down cross doesn't have in-universe symbolism? Or what if it is just a torture method? A cross does not need to be tied to christianity. The upside down cross in the book is not even being used as a symbol. I'd agree with you if it was on an insignia or a coat of arms; but I think it is ridiculous to immediately assume it is christian symbolism. If something as minor and unimportant as that breaks immersion, then maybe you shouldn't be playing in a campaign set in the Nine Hells. You know, the place that you could argue has even more christian symbology following your logic? You are playing a fantasy ttrpg made by people from the real world, who obviously draw inspiration from their culture, religion, myths and legends. Are you going to complain next about elves being a thing because they are inspired by Tolkien and he was heavily inspired by Christianity?

Are you seriously suggesting that Peter is the origin of upside down crucifixion? Seneca the Younger's quote about upside down crosses predates Peter's death, and certainly his association with the upside down cross (which is a tradition and not historically attested.)

You haven't even purchased the book but you are complaining about its 'immersion breaking'? Put it in a modern day Chick tract and move out. This is easily the best DnD adventure in eight years.

You might want to read Dante's Inferno, which is wholly based upon Christian mythology, and which the entire Asmodeus character, the Nine Hells, and ALL OF THIS BOOK are thus based upon.

Might as well complain that the Greek Mythology 5E book is based upon "real-world" Greek Mythology. ...and so on.

From THIS book:
"Sins
Sin must be at the core of any story that takes place
in the Nine Hells. These Hells are based on Dante’s
Inferno, the famed 14th-century poem which
depicted Hell as nine concentric circles of torment.
Each circle of Hell tormented a different class of
sinner, from the unbelievers of the 1st circle down to
the great betrayers of the 9th circle. "

Also, take a peek at Dictionnaire Infernal / The Infernal Dictionary; 18th Century if I recall. It's basically the 1st Edition Monster Manual for this D&D Realm. (My copy is signed with some kind of brown ink/burn on the back.) But seriously,...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
