Curse of Strahd Companion: The Complete Edition

Selected Option:

The Curse of Strahd Companion is your comprehensive guide to running 5th Edition's greatest and grimmest campaign. The Companion dives through every chapter of Curse of Strahd and incorporates Wyatt Trull's mithral-bestselling module, The Wedding at Ravenloft as the campaign's climax. The Complete Edition combines all constituent chapters into one ultimate, 440-page file (available as a fully bookmarked color PDF, a Printer-Friendly file, and in both softcover and hardcover). This guide contains:

  • The Wedding at Ravenloft. The Companion is written entirely with The Wedding at Ravenloft as your campaign's climax and it is is included in this product as the final chapter.
  • Storylines. Every chapter features new encounters and storylines to better run you through the Curse of Strahd sandbox.
  • Areas of Note. Each chapter also describes or fleshes out noteworthy areas with new narrative text, monster tactics, makeovers, and more.
  • DM Notes. Notes including but not limited to spicing up the region with valuable roleplay with select NPCs.
  • Magic Item Descriptions. Save yourself the time of digging through the Dungeon Master's Guide for details on the campaign's magic items.
  • Monster Stats. Time is precious, and matters all the more in combat. Appendix B has the statistics for the NPCs used in this campaign!
  • Dramatis Personae. Curse of Strahd's 140+ characters are detailed in the Dramatis Personae, sparing you the torture of digging through the module!
  • Fantasy Grounds. Playing Curse of Strahd on Fantasy Grounds? You can buy the Companion here!
Customers that have already purchased the Companion's constituent chapters may receive the PDF (and all associated files) of the Complete Edition for free through this bundle. There is no difference between these chapters and the Complete Edition other than a fresh coat of paint, better art, and a new layout. I am rather confused, I bought this and I don't get all the chapters and maps for the compendium?

Hey Wyatt, I see you made a version for FG, can we do a version for FoundryVTT?

Absolutely love the product, my only issue is that when I try to unpack the map files I am getting a name to long error, I really only need a few as I already have most of them thanks to CZRPG.

Is this supposed to be used instead of Curse of Strahd, or in conjunction with it?
Customer avatar
Wyatt T October 04, 2023 4:08 pm UTC
Conjunction. It's a guide to Curse of Strahd that advises and modifies the campaign.

Is this product for the original version of Curse of Strahd or the revamped version?

You'll find that WOTC changed virtually nothing in the revamped version, but sold countless customers a new book they did not need. So, don't worry about it. The changes that WOTC tried to implement were already things the community and I were doing in our own games, like making the Vistani not be racist caricatures of the Romani people and scrubbing Van Richten's racism against Vistani out of the campaign. WOTC came about to these changes years later, trying to avoid a PR disaster they caused in the first place. See this reddit thread for what changes the Revamped version made:

I will never forgive WotC for trying to scrub Vistani out of the book. I'm part Roma, so I took it a bit personally when they tried to ERASE the Vistani from the book. Perfect place to plug my "Fixed" Errata for the CoS book. It outlines what WotC did, in finite detail, and (IMHO) lists what they SHOULD have done. In other words, if you want your Vistani to maintain their "gypsy" mistique, without the racism.. use this:

I would not that they also gave Ezmerelda a THIRD background in VRGtR, claiming that she's really NOT Vistani. Kindly ignore that entirely. IN fact.. you're honestly better off ignoring nearly all of the setting content in VRGtR and just using it as a guire on how to run a horror campaign. ;)

Wyatt: I bought this bundle the day you posted it, and I THOUGHT I congratulated you on finally finishing it.. but I guess DMsGuild disappeared the post in to the...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
