So you want to adopt? - Mr Spudry is thrilled to hear you would like to adopt one of these beautiful creatures as your companion. They’re loving and caring and supportive. Apart from Grumpy Monkey, watch out for that one, but even Grumpy Monkey will find his forever home one day!

How To Use your new Companions

This supplement was created to work alongside one of our adventures (coming soon) but we realised it could just as easily be used to add Ship’s Companions to any Spelljammer game.

Your PCs can either find a Companion in the wild and tame it or can buy one from a pet shop like in our upcoming adventure (coming soon)

How to care for your new companion

“These aren’t pets, these are bona fide, certified, sometimes electrified, companions! They don’t just sit around looking pretty and demanding food oh no! They will help you around the ship and some will even help around a fight too if you know what I mean!”

But to get them to a point where the trust you, or even care about you enough to help will take some time. During any day in downtime you can perform an animal handling check to see how the training of your little buddy is progressing.

This Document adds 10 new Ship's Companions each with 6 unique traits that can be unlocked with training. Some of which are new Spelljammer Actions (akin to lair actions)

We use AI generation for art purposes only, all other work is performed by our own hands and/or brains.

The Following Adventure uses the Companions from this suppliment:

Hi, I have another question. We're using the Xenowisp in our game. It is now Level 3. Under the Chaos Dust trait it says "As an action, the Xenowisp blows a dark red powder into the face of a creature within 5ft." Is this an attack roll or does the opponent get to make a save vs. this effect?

Hi, I just purchased this pdf. I have a question. On p. 3 it says "...you can perform an animal handling check to see how the training of your little buddy is progressing" and then there is a chart with "Number of successful checks" listed. Do those checks need to be consecutive? What if a player rolls a failure during this process? Thanks. Love the idea and artwork btw-

Hey Matt, our first discussion, how exciting :D

When we designed them I definitely wasn't thinking consecutive checks, simulating the fact that sometimes when you set out to train an animal they make progress and sometimes they dont.

But as always all these things are just guidelines, I can imagine that if you made it so the checks had to be consecutive that it would be super rewarding when you went up a level!

The only thing that you should keep in mind (and rereading could have been clearer) is that it is *one check per day* to stop people spamming to level 3.

Thanks for taking your time to give us a read Matt, we really appreciate it.

If you could find the time for a review or a rating Pete would probably name a cocktail after you.

Oh, okay, the "any day in downtime" makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification. I'm planning to use this supplement in my SJ game. Again, love the idea-

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
