How is this different from the Acheron Games 3rd party game of Inferno: Dante's Guide to Hell for 5e? Honestly curious what this one does majorly different.

Completely different books and approaches. They have nothing in common except being inspired by Divine Comedy.

There was some discussion under the Dante's Player's Handbook about how much of this is created by artificial intelligence. The authors admit that their art is AI. However, despite churning out 16 products totaling more than 1500 pages in 2 months they claim that everything is hand-written, play-tested, balanced, etc. In the discussion the authors say that this material is part of their home campaigns and that they have spent "all these years" this and then suddenly and inexplicably decided to publish it all within the last two months. Im going to respond here since the discussion is relevant to all of their work and this is their most recent product.

I find the authors claim unbelievable for the following reasons:

1) The genres are a complete mishmash. I find it hard to believe that rather than playing a traditional or generic 5e campaign they have instead done a super hero campaign, a science fiction campaign, a greek mythology campaign, a world of warcraft campaign,...See more

Hey Scott! Glad to hear from you again :)
We'll try to explain once more (even if there is no point to do so cause you've already made your conclusions and that's ok).

1) Our business plan and the decision to delay the publication of our titles are entirely our own, and there are marketing reasons behind it. No further explanation is needed.

2) The payment to our employees and our money management are also our business affairs.

3) There was no "water, earth and air damage" phrase in our book. We didn't mentioned ANY damage type for those elements on a racial ability (by accident). We clarified this on an update to that title.

4) Regarding the comment about balancing in our "Dante's Guide to Hell: Player's Handbook" title, we believe the ability is perfectly balanced for its level (20). As we mentioned in our response, the damage is dealt once per round, not per attack as incorrectly stated in the comment.

5) Our "Explorer's...See more

Scott is completely right lmao. Your text registers as AI written on almost every detector. It's not that hard to tell yourself either. AI writes with very low variety in sentence length and with very low sentence complexity. Humans almost always write by switching between shorter and longer sentences which AI does not do. Your text reads exactly like something written by ChatGPT. I mean seriously read the "lore" section of Morgath's description out loud to yourself.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt maybe you don't personally know it but your employees are 100% using AI to write the content. I would too if the expectation was that my team needed to have a new book out every week.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
