The Academic, An Intelligent Class

The Academic Class puts Intellgent front and centre. Characters that follow this path use their insight and acumen in and out of combat. The smartest people in the room and on the battlefield. Abilities of the Academic include:

Prudent Positioning. It's about knowing where to stand. Your AC is based on Dexterity and Intelligence.

Strategist. Tally ho! You grant buffs to your allies on the fly.

Sly Defense. The best offence. Your Dodge gains a special feature.

There are no subclasses for the Academic, in the traditional sense. Instead you can choose from a selection of paths of study at 2nd level. There are 8 'Scholastic Paths', including Antiquarian, Negotiator and Tactician. From 3rd level, you begin to specialise in chosen creature types. Your ability to combat and interact with these types greatly improves.

The Academic is a new and unique class, that includes abilities untried and untested by the existing, official classes available. It has been played tested, but it is still an unwieldy new creature that will benefit from you as DM or player. I invite your constructive feedback!
