The Reaver: Player Character Class

updated 2nd Edition now available!

Reaver with Chakram
Introducing the Reaver, the unique adventurer class that wields the power of the Affliction to turn the very life force of their enemies against them. This class from Smiling Orc Publishing offers a new way to experience the world of Dungeons and Dragons 5E.

Are you ready to unleash the darkness within? As a Reaver, you will learn to channel the power of the Affliction and turn your own suffering into strength. But beware, for this power is a double-edged sword, and the more you use it, the closer you come to losing yourself to the darkness forever.

The Reaver's abilities are both a blessing and a curse. They are born with a genetic mutation that grants them incredible powers but also causes them great suffering. The source of their power is a mysterious force known as the Affliction, a primal energy that courses through their veins and grants them magical abilities. However, this same energy can also cause the Reaver immense pain and torment if not properly controlled.

To keep the Affliction stable and maintain their power, Reavers rely on a special ability known as the Syphon. By drawing mana, life force, or energy from other beings, they can stabilize their own Affliction and gain new powers. This ability serves the Reaver in two ways, allowing them to maintain their own stability while also giving them access to new abilities and spells.

Create a Reaver with a backstory that makes them a unique and compelling character in your campaign world. Reavers come from all walks of life, and their backgrounds can vary widely. Whether they were a simple farmer, a member of a noble family shunned and cast out, or an orphan abandoned by their parents, the Affliction has made them what they are today.

Your Reaver is intimately connected to the magical energy around them, shaping their abilities and personality. Do they see it as a curse to be managed or a tool to be harnessed? How does their connection to their need for energy influence their behavior and decision-making?

The Affliction that vexes all Reavers is a central part of their character and can have a major impact on their abilities and outlook on life. As you create your Reaver character, consider how they discovered their Affliction and how it has affected their relationships with others. Do they struggle to control their powers, or have they fully embraced their new identity as a Reaver?

Become a powerful and feared champion of your cause as a Reaver. Are you ready to master the unique powers of this new class and unleash your full potential on the battlefield? Discover the Reaver now and explore a new way to experience Dungeons and Dragons 5E.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
