Magic items are an important part of any adventuring party’s toolbox. They serve important roles in the adventurer for assisting with solving problems, overcoming obstacles, and defeating powerful bosses. Magic items can provide a player character new powers or amplify existing powers. And most importantly, they add excitement to the game through their acquisition and discovery. Receiving a magic item from a treasure chest or taking one from a defeated enemy is a thrilling moment in any campaign. The challenge for GM’s is to present magic items to the party with the importance that they deserve. The GM must guard against the temptation of over-buffing the party with too many magic items that either make encounters boring or awarding items that have no purpose in the campaign, and therefore lose their luster quickly. The magic items presented in this GM supplement are meant as important and pivotal items in a campaign; they come with unique and powerful properties and, in many cases, strange and wonderous histories. The theme within this supplement are items that adventurer’s would love to have. But GM’s are encouraged to tweak the items as needed to fit their adventurers. Magic Items should serve a purpose in your campaign. It does you no good to award a magic item that will not be used by the characters. It is important to have an idea of who in your party would benefit from the item and how it can be used to accomplish the tasks set out in your campaign.
