Instant Athkatla!

Poster sized bespoke map of Athkatla together with a 17 page booklet outlining all the known locations of Athkatla and completely updated for the 1490's.

Athkatla Poster Thumb

Updated for the 1490's, the map size is the UK size of A2 which is 42 cm by 59.4 cm. It is likely the most detailed and up to date map of Athkatla available, paying close attention to the supplements available and fully updated.

Athkatla is the capital of Amn and so there is major cultural shift from the Sword Coast which many DMs will be more used to. Such major changes as the outlawing of arcane magic, and adventuring being viewed as an entrepreneurial activity rather than heroic, can cause DMs and players alike to pause for thought. This supplement hopes to give parties the necessary quick tools and summaries to enable adventures to be run in the city without the DM needing to do plenty of homework. We've done it for you!

The booklet is intended to be a quick introduction to Athkatla for a DM in a hurry. It is designed to be consistent with canon and contains known locations from various supplements, together with added locations to help the DM and PCs move around the city and carry out their day to day activities. It also includes several plot hooks for the DM who is intending to base the party in the city for an extended period.

You may also be aware of the city map and outline available in Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villainy. Whereas I quite enjoy the supplement, it is a DM's Guild supplement, just like this one! The Journal is no more canon, than this supplement, so both are equally valid. Tbh, I had no idea that the Journal contained details of Athkatla when I created this map, otherwise for my campaign I would have simple used the Journal :) However, now we have both! So feel free to mix and match locations from either supplement.

You might consider adding or at least directing people to the information in mince and boos journal of villainy, its only 5 or so pages but it is the most recent official material.

Thank you so much for alerting me to this, it is a supplement I don't currently have. I'll check it out and see if my map and booklet should be updated.

Thanks Serena, I've finally got around to looking into Minsc and Boo's. However I've discovered that it isn't actually official material, it is fan material published on DM's Guild, just like this one. Thanks again for making me aware of this, and I've checked it out, however I prefer to keep to past supplements which are canon for the Forgotten Realms setting when creating my maps. However, I do think that the Journal map is excellent, and if it was canon I would make sure that the locations were all included in this poster map :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
