Hi Ernie
im doing more reading a i see that against the giants is made for 5e already in a official published book. can you tell me the core differences? i know you recommend you play this one between levels 7 - 9 but the official one says 11 - 13? do you also have level recommendations if we use the dnd official book instead of this conversion?

Hi Logan,
As per the rules of DMs Guild, this is a streamlined, bare-bones conversion guide for someone who already owns the classic adventure (i.e., encounter-by-encounter conversion notes with any 5e stats needed, leaving out all other content. This version also includes the realistic digital maps created by Jon Pintar. Low-resolution sample images of the maps are included in the product description.
Thanks,
Ernie

Hey Ernie, i read a comment also that the maps are not sized correctly for 5e sized figures? how would i use these maps with miniatures? i have the maps printed out so each grid square is 1 inch. is there a diffrent way of calculations i should use?

The realistic maps mirror the original maps and have not been upsized. However, each map has three variants: a low-res copy, a high-res copy, and copy with a grid. The high res copy is large enough that you may be able to change the scale to suit your needs.

I ran G1-2-3 for 5e about four or five years ago. It seemed to work pretty well in most places. I've also run the Rod of Seven Parts. The cloud giant section of that adventure is a lot of fun, but the scale did present more problems there.

Good luck and happy gaming.

Hey Ernie, i also noticed that majority of the rings dont have raritys in the magic items section. and what does a minor tier mean?

Thank you again Logan. I have added Ring, Rare for the ring of contrariness and ring of delusion. I had a player acquire and wear a ring of contrariness. Absolutely hysterical and dangerous. It took them five or six games to have remove curse cast and the ring removed. Magic item tiers were added as another classification of magic items in Xanthar's If you have Xantar's you can read about this on page 135 and again on the tables starting on 140. This is not required and may be ignored if you wish, I must have been thinking about tiers or borrowed these items from another conversion guide I wrote where I used them more consistently.
Thank you again for letting me know about this.
Take care and happy gaming

Hey Ernie, I'm reading this module and i see that for G2 the 7. Guest Cavern that has this description. T"he cloud giant who is the current guest has Just agreed to join the Jarl as his chief henchman The chest holds 11 .000 g p . The giant wears a silver belt set with ivory and gems ( 1 1 ,000, 2 500, 4 100, and 12 50 g.p. base value gems)" the conversion says it can be run normally. but the part says theres a cloud giant there? do i use 1 cloud giant or do i not have one there? is the giant there or is it just his room?

Hi Logan,
Thank you for pointing this out. You are correct. G2 room 7 should have a cloud giant. While fixing this I noticed G2 room 8 had a cloud giant instead of a storm giant. Both rooms have been corrected in the conversion guide.
I have uploaded a corrected version.
Thank you and happy gaming.

I ran G1, using 2.75D terrain, and 30+ Hill Giant mini's, using 1e rules and sizes. It was a blast. I did not, however, factor in furniture very much -- I overlooked it. These maps are a fantastic reminder of the tactical value of showing the players the furniture in each room. Pictures here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/SKUzHZDjvCrbLw3Q8

Preparing to run G2, next month, with full 3D modular terrain and 30+ Frost Giant figures. Planning to run G3, using a friend's Dwarven Forge dungeon terrain pieces, this Autumn; I have 30+ Fire Giant mini's for this game, as well. Will be buying this set of maps to supplement my original, 1e download, as they are full color, and they include tactical stuff, like furniture, which I'd like to add into the tabletop games' terrain, to further immerse my players in the experience! Thank you! Cheers!

Hey Bruce,
I am thrilled the maps were helpful. Jon Pintar deserves 100% of the credit for those and he did a fantastic job. Your photos look terrific. That must have been an exciting game. I ran G1-3 a few years ago and had a fun and memorable adventure with the players. Thanks again for your post! Good luck with G2. G3 is brutal if they make it that far.

Are the maps sized up to fit the size increase for giants in 5e?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
