Mike's Free Encounter #94: Gingerbads

This is the 94^th in an ongoing series aimed to provide the overworked DM with ready-to run encounters.

The PCs encounter the Gingerbads, animated and angry gingerbread people. Will they triumph or will they be the cookies that crumble?

The base encounter is CR 2.

The village of Armonk’s celebration of the Winter Purchasing Season includes reviving the snow person Yool (which went horrible once) and cutting down trees of the Friendly Forest to decorate. The villagers also gather gingerbread.

While gingerbread is usually baked, a magical gingerbread village is located near Armonk. While the people of Armonk harvest it each year, it always reappears in time for the Winter Purchasing Season. This year, however, things are different.

When the official Gingerbread Inspector went to check on the village, they were surprised to find it inhabited and then shocked to learn the inhabitants are gingerbread people. Barely escaping with their life, the inspector reported back to the village: they now had competition for the gingerbread (but also potentially more gingerbread). The inspector called the gingerbread people “gingerbads” and the name stuck.
