DANGERS IN THE JUNGLE

Jungle Samples

THE ABANDONED VILLAGE (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

There is a settlement about a day’s travel through dense jungle. The inhabitants are said to be women who occasionally barter with other communities for food and other materials. No one asked has seen anyone from the village for at least two weeks. What has happened?

 

THE LOST CIRCLET (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

A religious organisation is offering a reward for taking food and aid to a forest community. They will pay extra if a religious artefact is returned to them. They were ambushed by an unknown creature, and their artefact was lost in the melee.

 

EERIE SWAMP (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

There’s something strange about this swampland. Travellers disappear and many of the creatures are strange, even compared to elsewhere. There are two contracts on offer. One from an alchemist whose daughter is missing, and one from an injured bounty hunter trying to fulfil a contract.

 

THE SECRET ENCLOSURE (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

A section of jungle is currently unmarked as explorer are unable to map it, complaining of malfunctioning equipment. The jungle here is very dense and the plants, animals and their toxicity are also unknown. What is behind the secretive nature of this area?

 

LOONY MOUNTAIN (Difficulty rating: Hard)

The jungle surrounding Loony Mountain is shrouded in mist most of the time, and the explorers that have returned with nothing except maps and journals full of gibberish. One explorer spoke about a crystal crown worshipped by lizards.

SLUM PRESIGE (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

A shipment of goods went missing a few days ago, and the private buyer Mathaus Telman is keen to be reunited with his purchases. The stolen items were in two crates that came off the Sea Leaf ship. The items were for his new art project and included priceless pictures and magical art tools. He will pay a generous reward for their safe return.

 

DAMNED NEIGHBOURHOOD (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

A city neighbourhood has long been known, unkindly, as the ‘Crawling Corpse’, and its inhabitants as ‘cockroaches’. It has high levels of crime, but the recent murder spree is alarming everyone in the area, and no-one is owning up to the deeds.

 

HELM JEWEL HEIST (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

Aristocrat, Falmus Surger has died. His collection is famous, most notably, the jewel that once formed the centrepiece in the Helm of the Mountain. With an auction taking place at his mansion, many would pay handsomely to get their hands on it.

 

FIGHT OR BLIGHT (Difficulty rating: Hard)

A strange disease is spreading across the city, that can be caught regardless of creature type and class. It causes those afflicted to appear dazed, act irrationally and can be fatal. The Watch are recruiting mercenaries to help run the city and will pay extra for info on the disease’ source and how to stop it.

 

THE SEWER KING (Difficulty rating: Hard)

Major crime gangs have come to a truce with the law after several mysterious deaths occurred in the city’s sewer system. The City Watch seek assistance but ask for discretion. They will offer a large reward for stopping the sewer predator, offering six Prestidigitation scrolls and a city map marked with sewer entrances. Every mile of sewers contains three surface exits.

DECEPTIVE MOORS (Difficulty rating: Easy)

A wizard will pay with money or potions if the party can retrieve three sleeves of flowers (approximately six of each) from the wilds; The Dancing Lilac, The Swiftfellow and the Bubbling Bluegrass. She will supply the leather sleeves to hold the precious cargo and a basic map of landmarks to follow.

 

REDEMPTION TRAIL (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

The young chief of a barbarian tribe needs closure on the death of his father and will share some of the spoils if the party will accompany him and find the Mighty Tusk Shell. Not only did it devour his father and two veteran fighters, but it also swallowed some valuable artefacts that are sacred to the tribe.

 

SAVING CASPERINA (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

Casperina is the healer of the village, but after attempting to save a traveller, a dangerous fungus infected her. No known spell can stop its progress, but a druid’s grove to the North might be able to help. Now the village is praying that she can make the dangerous journey through the perilous High Hills.

 

THE WAY OF EROGEN REY (Difficulty rating: Hard)

Erogen Rey, an aged mystic of high renown has a shack bristling with strange wonders and trinkets. He is always careful who he shares his secrets with and is keen to test their true intentions as well as their potential. Will the Party be worthy of the Erogen Rey way?

 

DREAD NIGHT (Difficulty rating: Hard)

It falls fast and without warning. Some dates cannot be quantified. Perhaps a powerful curse was uttered, or the Gods felt wronged, or a hellish entity is devouring a powerful sacrifice. What is certain is that no one is safe tonight.

THE GREAT TREE (Difficulty rating: Easy)

A vision appears of a deity appealing for the party’s help in saving the Great Tree of the forest. Its guardians have been overcome by a pestilence and agents of chaos will overrun the wood.

 


LYRINETTE’S DREAM (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

Three villages have reported thefts in the night with furniture and other possessions going missing. More alarmingly, a young girl called Lyrinette has vanished. She went to the bed as normal but was gone the next morning. The villages will surely be indebted should the mystery be solved. 

  

SPREAD OF THE IVY WEAVE (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

The forest is on life support. A strange vine plant is strangling the life from the ground and sucking the sap from the trees. A young druid is seeking assistance in ridding the woodland of this pestilence and restoring balance to life once more. 

  

THE COURT OF BERGLIN (Difficulty rating: Moderate-Hard)

The forest has a new ruler. Ancient and mischievous, Berglin is both tree spirit and divine being, and has continued to grow in girth and magical powers. The woodland folk are at their wits end carrying out dangerous missions or being punished for not meeting Berglin’s wacky expectations.

 

EVIL SUMMONER (Difficulty rating: Hard)

Each member of the party has been having vivid nightmares. Visions of burning, of corpses piled high and a wide, a sinister grin followed by wild laughter like a saw on wood. Will the party be able to resolve their state or go mad trying?

HARVEST TIME (Difficulty rating: Easy)

The town of Thatchum has reached a critical point. Food stocks are low, and they rely on their food to pay the crown every year. The harvest should be a time of toil and reward, but workers are too afraid to return to the fields after they were spooked by horrifying creatures. The mayor wants the problem sorted immediately and is offering a substantial reward.


UNREST IN GILDERS (Difficulty rating: Easy)

The inhabitants of Gilders Town have much to be proud of. Their blacksmiths are celebrated throughout kingdom, and they have good trading routes thanks its location on the river. Unfortunately, a murder and an increase in local thefts has everyone on edge, especially the Baron of Gilderland.

 

THE VILE DUKE (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

The Duke of Adleshire is infamous, having pinched almost every penny from his people to pay for his debaucheries. The atmosphere in the town of Adlesford has become toxic, and the party won’t need to go far before hearing his name cursed or see guards arresting protesters. Something has to give, and for the town’s sake, the sooner the better. 

 

TRADING WITH PIRATES (Difficulty rating: Moderate)

The Prince of Garviere has been kidnapped. Could it be that the dreaded Sorn the Scarred; a merciless pirate captain, was behind it? Some suspect that the royal family assemble a task force, while others take their silence to mean they will deliver gold. A séance is being held for the prince outside the castle entrance this evening. Will hope return to Garviere again? 

 

THE FLOATING HILL (Difficulty rating: Hard)

The mage, Ozmas the Red, was tired of the constant strife between two kingdoms and took their crown jewels to his tower. Both rulers received a message by crow, taunting to try and retrieve what they hold dear.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
