The Light Package Trade, Privateering & Merchant Princes (Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace Supplement)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Welcome to PIRATES OF REALMSPACE: The Light Package Trade, Privateering & Merchant Princes, a 5th EDITION DUNGEONS & DRAGONS™ adaptation of the classic MS-DOS videogame SPELLJAMMER: PIRATES OF REALMSPACE- the first official ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS™ computer product to use SPELLJAMMER™ rules. This supplement has been designed to help the DM populate Realmspace (and beyond!) with Small Package Trade jobs and Adventure Hooks that will keep characters' coffers full of coin and their ships flying to new destinations, just like in the classic computer game.

In SPELLJAMMER: PIRATES OF REALMSPACE a player could visit eight different worlds in the Realmspace system, containing Toril- the world of the FORGOTTEN REALMS adventures- and its sister planets Anadia, Coliar, Karpri, Chandos, Glyth, Garden, and H’Catha. This module provides options to move the action past Realmspace into KRYNNSPACE, GREYSPACE, CLUSTERSPACE, SIBERYSPACE, APESPACE, GRELLSPACE, WINTERSPACE, REFUGESPACE, NILESPACE and more- anywhere you want it to be! Start an open-ended campaign exploring wildspace with the classic Hook:

“A captain’s goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying.”

With careful attention paid to Dungeons & Dragons lore from across its Multiverse, this volume includes a d100 Destination Randomization table and associated chap of information on a host of spelljamming ports of call across Wildspace to help make this endless universe just a bit more manageable! What's inside?

Class: Merchant Prince

If your players are looking to strike out into the void and make their fortune as Merchant Princes (also known as Merchant Princesses, Trade Tzars or Jammer Barons depending on their gender and preference) by trading goods and smuggling contriband between planets, then this supplement is for you! The Merchant Prince, inspired by the prestige class of the same name in GAZ09 - Minrothad Guilds, has been totally rebuilt for 5th edition Spelljamming campaigns. Where Bards inspire mighty Heroes, Merchant Princes inspire everyday Hirelings- bringing powerful leadership auras to the table that drive those in their employ to achieve greatness. Choosing from three class archetypes- Groundling Philanthropist, Adventure Capitalist and Trade Unionist- characters can specialize their Merchant Prince towards their favored pillar of roleplay (Social Interaction/Intrigue, Combat/Looting and Exploration/Crafting respectively).

Utilizing their Art of the Deal trait, Merchant Princes bring to the table unique abilities called Delegations, allowing them to spend an action to have an ally take an action at advantage or expend a spell slot to cause an ally to regain an expended slot! What's more, the Merchant Prince is a Multiclass Caster, able to learn spells from the Bard, Wizard or Artificer spell lists. Take command of any situation as an entirely new kind of support class and be the catalyst that spurs others to glory!

The Light Package Trade

What would a Wildspace Trade supplement be without trade rules?

  • The Light Package Trade (including 33 classic adventure hooks inspired by Pirates of Realmspace)
  • Extensive Randomization Tables (Employers, Cargoes, d100 Species, d100 Destinations, Complications, Supply & Demand modifiers and more)
  • The Freight Trade and Speculative Jobs
  • Extended Hirelings options
  • Reputation: Shipper and Reputation: Smuggler

Privateering & the Pirates of Realmspace

Rules are supplied for characters who wish to become privateers by obtaining a Letter of Marque from a government to sail against its enemies, with Renown: Privateer allowing a party to become feared across the Verse for their daring exploits. In addition, the d100 Pirates of Realmspace Encounter Table features 100 run-ins with characterful Captains and Crews across the Sea of Night- all with a Bounty on their heads! Will your party walk the line as Privateers or jump over it entirely to become Pirates themselves?

NPC/Monster Stat Blocks:

  • Hobgoblin Deckboss, Hobgoblin Shipmate
  • Hurwaet Shipmate
  • Skeleton Pirate, Skeleton Pirate Bosun, Skeleton Pirate First Mate
  • Asteroid Giant, Asteroid Giant Chieftan, Asteroid Giant "Musketeer"

So, in buying this pre-release, when it's ready for full release, will this title be updated to the full release w/the price going up to $10? So in getting it now, you will get the full release when it's ready? Thank you in advance for your time!

You got it, yep! When we're done polishing, the full release will replace the currently uploaded Merchant Prince class preview document and the whole supplement will be in early birds' hands without any extra fuss for half the coin.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
