"My favourite supplements are the ones where my brain runs away with me, creating or solidifying character concepts, or weaving stories about adventuring parties, their dynamics, and adventures. Nocturnes & Nightmares did this in the first chapter." - The Cozy Cauldron

"This book is an absolute banquet of dark delights – MORE than enough to gift a new or experienced DM everything they need to run... My only wish now is for a hard-back copy!" - Glitzy Demon's Dungeon

"This thing is hefty…but doesn’t waste pages. If you have any interest whatsoever in horror roleplaying in DnD5e, this thing will see use at your table. Subclasses, ancestries, spells, monsters, adventures, new Domains of Dread, new magic items…all well written and well balanced." - Of Gods and Game Masters

"Baba Lysaga’s Nocturnes and Nightmares is a spooktacular all-in-one. Recommended? Absolutely." - Tabletop Courant

Baba Lysaga has crept into the room of the Von Zarovich castle and stands over the baby boy. Humming a tune, she begins to rock the cradle gently. What plans does she have in store for the child?

This includes new subclasses for all 13 classes. Find new spooky spells, cursed items, and new haunted lineages inside. And no storybook would be complete without new nightmare settings, monsters, and one-shot adventures with which to share her frightful tales with others.

Find the scrawling rhymes of Baba Lysaga as she passes on her twisted lessons in an easy-to-remember format for small children. For use with any 5th edition content.

We would love to, but the guidelines say this book needs to hit Platinum before we can make it PoD. So spread the word, I guess!

We're looking into it! We were in conversation with the Roll20 team about them taking on the conversion to have ready when they rolled it out, but it didn't end up happening.

My take on this product: Full transparency, I received a free copy of this massive supplement for review purposes. As usual I will rate this on four metrics: Utility, Quality, Presentation, and Price.

Utility: This thing is hefty…but doesn’t waste pages. If you have any interest whatsoever in horror roleplaying in DnD5e, this thing will see use at your table. Subclasses, ancestries, spells, monsters, adventures, new Domains of Dread, new magic items…all well written and well balanced. They even have a very good section on running horror at the table.

5/5

Quality: Here, I’m looking at the actual quality of the options presented…and frankly, I’m impressed. The subclasses are evocative, powerful, and balanced. The spells are inspired. The ancestries are quite off kilter, but well constructed, fitting for the themes…and given ways to make them fit specific domains of dread even better. The domains and adventures dovetail well, are well constructed, and have a truly...See more

were-ghost sounds conceptually too outside of dnd's norm for me, like there is no reason for it to be a thing, if anything you'd be part ghost ala danny phantom, i'd imagine, having it act like lycanthropy just seems a bit too ridiculous

D&D is a game that has ooze people, elephant people, scientific hybrid human-animals, and undead. I don't think a ghost that turns people into ghosts if they kill them is too outside the box for D&D, but I absolutely respect your opinion!

First and foremost, the information presented in this review is based on an earlier pre-publication copy of this supplement. With that out of the way, let's get into it.

Baba Lysaga's Nocturnes and Nightmares (BLNN) is a horror themed supplement that provides Dungeon Masters with enough new options and tools to craft their own tales of terror. The new sub-classes on offer in this book range from the grotesque to the macabre to the whimsical, with the exception of the new Paladin Oath, the sole sub-class that stands against the tides of terror. And with each class receiving one horrifying sub-class of their own, there is something for players of all kinds. Another strong offering with regards to character options is the impressive spell list with new incantations and magicks to inspire fear or ward against it, providing tools to both DMs and players alike to amplify the dread. Less impressive is the number of lineages, with a modest three on offer, though they present an interesting twist on the lineage...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
