The Carnival of Pain

Your party must brave the most terrifying circus the multiverse has to offer: the Carnival Eternal! The characters must find a way to sneak past the carnival's powerful magic wards, navigate its treacherous and back-stabbing devils, and delve deep into the Harlequin Queen's awful funhouse of torment! Will the characters live to see another day? Or will the Harlequin Queen strip the flesh from their soul?

A 3-6 hour Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition adventure for Level 10 characters, with modifications for Tier 2 (level 5-10) or Tier 3 (level 11-16) characters.

This adventure's location is designed to be easy to drop into any setting or campaign, so that the players can encounter it wherever the DM would like! This cirucs could crop up in the Cult of Rakdos on Ravnica, appear out of the mists of Ravenloft in Curse of Strahd, move among the layers of the Nine Hells in Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, come crashing through planar boundaries into the Feywild during The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, or even simply roll into the outskirts of an important town in your homebrew world!

PURCHASER
It says it is optimized to run with 4 10th level characters. I have 5 players. Would you have 5 level 9 players or just increase the strength of the monsters?

No problem at all! In my playtest, the characters weren't exactly sure what it did, so the rogue did an investigation check and realized all the dried blood and serrations meant the door needed to be fed fresh blood. So each character sacrificed 25 hit points by bleeding into the keyhole and the door opened.

I could also imagine characters using dimension door, a portable hole, or something else like that to get past it! Let characters be creative if they really don't want to "feed" it - the door can't be destroyed but it can be circumvented in any number of clever ways, I'm sure.

Apologies for the delayed response. The Harlequin Queen is a pretty straightforward boss when it comes to tactics: during her turn itself she focuses on one creature with her Multiattack (including Fleshmelt!) while taunting them, typically trying to down one character at time unless a different character captures her ire/attention. As for her legendary actions, she uses Warp Creature (2 actions) every turn or until every character has saved and is immune to its effects while using her 1 remaining legendary action to control the battlefield with power word pain, polymorph, wall of fire, and hold person.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
