Amarune's Almanac: Arctics of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"Ah, yes. The “howling frozen nothingness in which living things just disappear forever into all the white emptiness.” At last." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "I can remember my dearest Arclath complaining so flippantly in the heat of the jungles of Chult about how one can add more layers in the cold, but there is only so much one can remove to cool themselves. He even asked in my volume on forests, 'What is one to do in that kind of heat? Take your skin off?' Yet these words now ring in my mind as ignorance. He didn’t know at the time, as neither of us could have known, how truly, bitingly cold the winter air can become in the most extreme locales." - Amarune Whitewave Amarune's Almanac Volume 4 is the fourth in a multipart series exploring the eight biomes of Dungeons...

Amarune's Almanac: Coasts of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"So coasts are places where things happen, not just a haunt of seabirds, and endless crashing surf. Which is why this book exists; to look more closely at the 'thin ribbon of adventure' (to quote the famous bard Mintiper) that is the Coast. Enjoy!" - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "It’s easy to think of the adventures of the land and the adventures of the sea as being categorically different. The freedom of traveling by foot versus being holed up in a ship for weeks or months at a time, being able to take shelter in a cave versus so helplessly at the mercy of the elements, or the creatures of the wild versus the creatures of the deep, feels like as stark a contrast as black and white. The coasts of Faerûn offer a narrow strip of gray that in many ways feels more challenging tha...

Amarune's Almanac: Deserts of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"To most ‘everyday folk’ of the Realms, deserts are places to stay well away from. Dangerous, uncomfortable even when you make only brief, timid forays in from the verges, and offering little good reason to go there. And beings who do dwell in a desert are hardened to survive there, and usually don’t appreciate intruding competitors—and treat them accordingly." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "Everything we learned to survive in the freezing north and mountaintops would serve us well when visiting deserts. The most important thing I learned from any traveling merchant was the statement: “Insulation is a two-way street.”" - Amarune Whitewave Amarune's Almanac: Deserts of the Realms is the eight in a multipart series exploring the eight biomes of Dungeons & Dragon...

Amarune's Almanac: Forests of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"I love books like this." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "When Arclath asked me what a forest was, I probably looked at him like he’d sprouted an extra head. Though, he posed a good question; if I’m writing this book to explain these locales to people who have never seen them, how would I explain a 'forest' to someone who’s lived in a desert wasteland for their entire life and never seen a stand of trees larger than a dozen? Saying ‘you just know what a forest is when you see it’ doesn’t work anymore." - Amarune Whitewave Amarune's Almanac Volume 1 is the first in a multipart series exploring the eight biomes of Dungeons & Dragons within the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Forests of the Realms gives an overview of Faerûn's various forests and their flora, ...

Amarune's Almanac: Grasslands of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"Welcome to the 'forgotten' part of The Forgotten Realms" - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "When the earliest forms of this almanac series began to materialize in my mind, I did not foresee grasslands as being a part of the series. After all, with so many stunning mountains, ancient forests, and other marvels of the world, who could be interested in grasslands? At the time, grasslands seemed to simply be the space between the other things." - Amarune Whitewave Amarune's Almanac Volume 3 is the third in a multipart series exploring the eight biomes of Dungeons & Dragons within the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Grasslands of the Realms brings life to the oft-forgotten lands of Faerûn. We've populated these vast areas with new and old flora, fauna, and history alike. Gras...

Amarune's Almanac: Mountains of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"To most folk of the “civilized” Realms, mountains are walls: no-go areas prone to avalanches, roamed by fearsome monsters, and beset by frigid winds and, at their loftiest heights, perpetual ice and snow. The usually rare passes through mountains are vital trade routes—and dangerous gaps invading armies pour through. [..] Perhaps mountains are worth visiting, and not just gazing at. This tome may help make such visits survivable." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "While some subterranean cultures may choose to live inside of mountains, and many mining economies are situated around their base, surprisingly few people decide to live on mountains. Mountaintop living is generally reserved for those in search of seclusion or in need of a vantage point, like a castle or fortress....

Amarune's Almanac: Swamps of the Realms
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.49
Format:
 PDF
"[..] those who do dwell in and near marshes will tell you of their bounty, from fish and frogs for the cooking-fire to reeds for thatching roofs, and bog-muck that makes crops grow with almost frightening speed and vigor to a rich array of abundant, life-saving medicinal plants—to say nothing of herbs for dishes bound for even the finest dining tables. So, sparsely-tapped wells of bounty that are best stayed well away from." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "Swamps are, beyond a shadow of doubt, one of the least pleasant geographical features through which one can travel. They’re muggy, they flood, they’re full of deadly creatures, and it’s easy for disease and rot to flourish. I will not go so far as to say that no civilization can be found in them; gnolls, lizardfolk, b...

Amarune's Almanac: The Underdark
Regular price: $5.97
Bundle price:
 $2.52
Format:
 PDF
"[..] this tome is accurate and insightful, so I recommend it highly.." - Ed Greenwood (excerpt from Foreword) "You see, I hadn’t found much literature written about the Underdark to this point. Most of what I’d read focused on places like Menzoberranzan, the drow capital, or spoke of mysterious lost locales that they assumed had sunk into the underground. I could not believe that a land on such an enormous scale could simply be devoid of anything interesting, so it had to be a matter of no one else having bothered to write about it yet. As long as I was writing about all of the other biomes of the world, I should include the Underdark. I had no idea at the time what exactly we were signing ourselves up for." - Amarune Whitewave Amarune's Almanac Volume 2 is the second book in a m...

A compendium to stand next to my print version of Elministers Ecology would be great.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
