"Weep this day, my fellow Cyrans, and never forget. But tomorrow... tomorrow we begin to hunt down this villain, to demand justice, and to rebuild beloved, cherished Cyre. Tomorrow! Tomorrow we shall go home!”
— Prince Oargev, Address to the Cyran Refugees at the Brelish Camp, 994 YK"

Discover the new Jewel of Galifar

Wounds of the Last War are still fresh in the minds of the Cyran people. Scattered throughout the continent, the Cyran refugees feel lost and purposeless after the loss of their homeland. Most end up traveling in search of a place to belong to, and for many of them, New Cyre has become the home away from home.

New Cyre - Rebuilding the Jewel of Galifar is a guide to the town of New Cyre, where the Cyran refugees try to reforge their lives after the Day of Mourning. The book provides Dungeon Masters an in-depth look at the richly detailed town to base their campaigns in. In addition, the book describes how to create characters of Cyran origins, as well as how to incorporate the town into your own Eberron campaigns by providing adventure hooks, local history, new NPCs and more!

In this book, you’ll find all the details you’ll need to explore the town of New Cyre and the surrounding region:

  • An in-depth history and background of New Cyre
  • Descriptions of over 30 locations and NPCs to help you bring New Cyre to life
  • Guides on playing Cyran characters
  • Dozens of campaign prompts and plot hooks for DMs to create their own stories
  • Five new NPC stat blocks
  • Over 10 new magic items

Designer's Note: Playing as Refugees
As refugees come from all walks of life, there is no singular “Cyran Refugee” background option presented in this book. The backgrounds in Dungeons and Dragons represent the history and previous profession of the characters. Playing a Cyran refugee, by that extent, would then be similar to playing any other character: the fact that they are a refugee is part of the character’s history, not a defining factor of their professional background.

Playing a refugee character in a roleplaying game can be a great way to understand the hardships of refugees in real life. However, it is important not to forget about the real world traumas and the polical issues that refugees have to deal with. The intent behind this book is to provide information on how to play refugee characters in a way that creates interesting gameplay but still remains respectul and informative.

PURCHASER
Just purchased and had a quick skim, looking great so far. Couple of things struck me straight away. First, the file size is absolutely huge for such a small pdf. Second, I would love to be able to show my players the map through a VTT. Would it be possible to attach the map image file separately? Even better if there is an extra copy with the A1, A2, etc labels removed so I can show that to my players and use the other for my own reference.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
