The Pilot: A Full, Level 1-20 Vehicular Class

Not all warfare is done on foot or on horseback. The Pilot is a full, level 1-20 character class specializing in using a powerful vehicle called an "Engine". The Engine is customizable and gets more powerful as you level up.
You have many options to design your Engine. It can be anything from a car to a tank to a motorcycle to a humanoid mecha, and each option is mechanically distinct.

It has three Archetypes: Industrial, Military, and Science. Industrial focuses on damaging structures and melee attacks. Military focuses on ranged attacks and defense. Science is great for crowd control, focusing on AOE modules like flamethrowers and lightning fields.

It's perfect for steampunk-like campaigns, sci-fantasy campaigns, and settings like Eberron. Or if you want to go to Avernus and give the Infernal War Machines a run for their money.

The document is six pages, plus cover.

Have fun, and roll well!

Hey yo, this concept is really dope. I bought it, and I'm going to try it out in some solo play against some random encounters and then a different player character that I've made one vs one. I'll leave a review with my thoughts tomorrow, but genuinely I really am excited. I love the idea of a person piloting a vehicle in a fantasy setting and have seen it done a few times on this site, but seeing a new interpretations of that idea is pretty great to see.

Thank you for your interest, and for purchasing! Feel free to tell me if anything's confusing or if there's a balance issue you spot.

The big balancing thing I did was the overheat mechanic-I wanted to make sure the class wasn't overpowered while still having tank cannons and such feel appropriately hard-hitting. So I have the overheat force a cooldown to lower its average DPS to something akin to a fighter.

Did you ever get a chance to test it and such? I'm curious what you thought.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
