Way of the Razor Mind Cover Art

Hone your mind into a deadly weapon and crush your enemy's very thoughts as a Way of the Razor Mind Monk.

Wield your psionic gifts as deadly weapons and carve vicious wounds into your foe's mind. Steal their surface thoughts and channel psychic power through a Psicrystal companion. Masters of the Razor Mind can even turn their forms into thought itself and slip free from the mortal shell.

The Way of the Razor Mind supplement includes:

  • The Way of the Razor Mind Monk subclass.
  • 6 new magic items
  • 2 stat blocks for Razor Mind monks
  • 2 iconic NPCs to bring the elite and otherworldly Razor Mind Sect into your world
  • Lore for the Razor Mind Sect and its practices.

If you like this class you might also enjoy The Way of the Nascent Giant, a Monk subclass that absorbs the power of wild places to become an elemental titan!

A really lovely review of all the Monkathon subclasses from Wizard's Respite!

I like the flavor and the mechanics, but it seems a little overtuned, particularly the third level ability.

You can use the third level ability to reliably an enemy or two out of the fight (when combined with Flurry of Blows, Extra Attack and Attack of Opportunity), or in the case of bosses, melt Legendary Resistances like butter. Casters can abuse an incapacitated enemy by using debilitating spells that don't deal damage, while both martials and casters can Ready an Action to attack as soon as the incapacitation wears off (or after the monster misses its turn if there's no Legendary Actions to worry about), just before the monk incapacitates the enemy again.

Thanks for the feedback!

Mind Knife (Level 3 ability) is only usable once per turn which actually makes it slightly less problematic than Stunning Strike.

Having just made 7 Monk subclasses, I can tell you that Stunning Strike is the source of a lot of issues. Any Level 6+ Monk can attempt to Stun 5 times in one round. And the Stunned condition has all the issues of Incapacitated but also gives opponents advantage on attacks and auto fail on Str/Dex saves (and, unlike Mind Knife's Incapacitated, isn't broken by damage).

Ah, I totally missed the "Once per turn" bit, that's my bad. You're right about Stunning Strike as well.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
