"The Mists Surround You… Running through a familiar forest, mist rises up around you, and suddenly you’re “elsewhere”. The forest seems the same, but different in a thousand little ways. The branches of the trees block the meager light of the setting sun, casting dark shadows along the ground. You must escape the forest’s embrace before nightfall. And are those footsteps following you? Adventure in lands crying out for heroes, where horrors rule both night and day. Inside this eternal prison of the damned, the forces of good rarely win, and it is a constant struggle to maintain any semblance of justice, good, or even simple humanity and mercy."

What is this?

From the creator of the Real Devil Strahd CR 27, comes an encyclopedia of almost 800 pages of Ravenloft lore shared between two volumes & adapted for the Fantasy Grounds VTT! Explore every domain and struggle against new creatures that crawl the mists. Within, you will find stats for every Darklord, new items, spells, and everything you will ever need to run a Ravenloft Campaign in any of the domains.

Here in Volume 1 of Van Richten’s Encyclopedia, explore the Domains of the Northern and Southern Cores, sail the Domains of the Eastern and Western Seas, and venture to the Wandering Domains. Face evils beyond your darkest reckoning from The Devil Strahd to the brutish walking cadaver of Lamordia, Adam. Explore every domain and struggle against new creatures that crawl the mists. Within, you will find stats for every Darklord, new items, spells, and everything you will ever need to run a Ravenloft Campaign.

Some of the content in this book can and will be disturbing to part of our audience. We have tried our best to treat these subjects with the respect and severity that they deserve, but parts of Ravenloft, and the real-world history and fiction that inspired it, have always been horrific in the extreme. If you or your group feel uncomfortable with that kind of material, we strongly suggest that you leave it out of your campaign. We have chosen to leave it in as we believe that these subjects still need to be addressed and that roleplaying games — like literature — are one of the best mediums for doing so.

Inside you will find:

Within this FG module, you’ll find descriptions of all the domains released for Ravenloft from the very beginning, all the way up to the release of Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft. And not just all editions of Dungeons & Dragons, but also domains and darklords from novels that have never been fleshed out before. Ravenloft, the Demiplane of Dread, is a bleak realm of horror beyond imagination. Enter its domains, face its monstrous darklords and pray that you can survive the night. For you, it’s time to gaze into the abyss and discover if something gazes back.

Major kudos to the PDF authors and module conversion team - Mistfactor Press, George von Zarovich, Kim Frandsen, Heath Harris and Grim Press! There is a ton of information here for Domains of Dread! I would highly recommend any DM/GM doing a campaign which involves Domains of Dread get both volumes (be it PDF, hardcover and/or FG modules)!

I see two bundles available:

1. PDF and Hardcover of vols 1 and 2
2. FG modules of vols 1 and 2

My only question is: could you possibly do a bundle of the FG modules along with the PDFs, maybe with a good discount on the PDFs? (especially if one is purchasing the FG modules along with them?) Thank you.

Hi, Jason P. I'm glad to hear that you're pleased with the conversion. I'm checking to see if there is a possibility of bundling the PDFs and FG modules.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
