Discover the motivations behind the goddesses of Dungeons & Dragons' rich history in Uncaged: Goddesses, an epic collection of Tier 4 adventures spanning the multiverse.

Each adventure in this massive 297-page book centers around an evil- or neutral-aligned goddess from the Faerûnian pantheon in Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the Fury (Eberron), Mother Night (Barovia), and Pharika (Theros). Many of these goddesses have been featured in past D&D publications, but rarely do these stories explore the goddesses’ histories, conflicts, and goals. In Uncaged: Goddesses, the goddesses finally get to shine.

As with the first four volumes of the Uncaged Anthology, explore what makes these ignored, flattened, or maligned beings tick in vibrant, dynamic adventures by some of DMsGuild’s best creators. After all, every villain has her reasons.

Uncaged: Goddesses is a hefty 297 pages and includes:

  • 21 original Tier 4 adventures, each featuring a different evil- or neutral-aligned goddess of D&D

  • 27 new stat blocks, including stats for many deities and their avatars

  • 100+ pieces of custom artwork

  • 15 adventure maps

  • Advice for running Tier 4 adventures

  • 8 pregenerated Tier 4 player characters, so you can jump right into Tier 4 play

  • A foreword written by Ashley Warren, founder of the Uncaged Anthology

Purchasing Uncaged: Goddesses gets you:

  • A full-color, 297-page, bookmarked PDF

  • 8 pregenerated Tier 4 character sheets

  • Printable PDFs for each of the 21 adventures

  • A screen reader-accessible PDF with image alt text

These look so beautiful! I'm contemplating buying the hard cover, how big is the book, about the same size as the PHB?

Hi Ashley!
The book is 297 pages, or in width, about double the width of the players handbook (since the pages are a little thicker than the PHB pages.

The hardcover is massive. Adventures are short, but well described and beautifully illustrated: even if running high-level encounters is not your thing, this book would be worth it for the art alone.

Great book. Really look forward to running some of these adventures. Real shame that it's only available for standard print right now instead of premium though.

Hi Christopher. Really glad you're enjoying the book.
With the increased printing costs of print on demand books through Lightning Source and quite large page count of this book, the cost of the premium colour book would have been prohibitively high for most people. We opted for the standard only because of this, but if printing costs come down, or OBS finds a new printer with lower costs or better overall quality, we do plan to revisit it.

Understandable, although having the option available for both would be nice. I hadn't realized until I received it that it was Standard (which is a quality I typically avoid).

Hello Essek!
Uncaged: Goddesses has 21 adventures in it and one of them is centered around the Raven Queen. The adventure is called "I Know Her Name".

Oh wonderful! Thank you so much for your quick reply. Now I'm going to sound dumb, but I wanted the combo pdf + standard book, but when i click add to cart it only shows an order for the pdf at 16.99. Is that normal?

Sounds like you just added the digital version. You just need to select the combo option on the product page (by clicking the little bubble beside it) before you add it to your cart and it should give you the combo. :)

Nope, that's what I was doing. On Mozilla Firefox it only adds the pdf, on Chrome it let me add both. Weird but I'm on my way to having your book in my hands!

Some of the reviews laud the divirsity and inclusion features of this product. What specifically are they referring to?

Hello Don!
In terms of diversity, the team who worked on the book come from a diverse range of backgrounds, offering a broad set of perspectives. This is naturally reflected in the stories told in the book, the characters who appear in those stories, and in some of the pregenerated characters included with the book. The development of the book also included cultural consulting and sensitivity reading across all the adventures.

Love the book. Glad I purchased. Was hoping for a pre-drawn map for the Beshaba adventure. Any suggestion for a digital map that would pair up nicely with that setting?

Hi Kevin!
Our team is so glad you like the book!

For the Casino in Chapter 1 of the adventure, there aren't any specific dimensions or features that you need to worry about, so pretty well any non-descript buiilding map can be used with a little flavorful description. I'm a big fan of Dyson Logos and he has some publicly available temple maps that could provide a good casino layout with the large central room where all the action happens and a few smaller adjoining room.

As you get into chapter 2, it's pretty hard to emulate the turning wheel in map form, but the 6 rooms on the wheel are very feature focused, with light details on room layout, so you could probably either use pretty well any generic map for those, one of the maps the Red Knight adventure in the Uncaged: Goddesses book as a stand in, or forgo a map for those rooms. Finally for the final encounter, there's a circular map in the Waukeen adventure that has a teleportation circle on the map that would stand in decently...See more

Where can I find the stat block for the "Avatar of the Great Mother" in the Great Mother adventure? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hi Paul,
The stats for each monster are at the end of their adventures. The Avatar of the Great Mother spans pages 144 and 145.

Generally love the book; however, I was disappointed Tiamat was an old, non-mythic stat block. Some of the other epic stat blocks were very interesting and I was really hoping Tiamat would get the same treatment. I think you can do better than what WotC did in either Rise of Tiamat or Fizban's Treasury of Dragons (which was a mythic avatar). Any chance you will take another pass? There is still a lot of room on page 211 to add some great stuff to here stat block.

Hi there! Really glad that you love the book and some of our mythic level takes on the goddesses. We don't currently have any plans for revisions to any of the adventures, but I will pass along the feedback in case we do one in the future.

Yes it does. There is an appendix in the book with all of the maps, but also an additional zip file is included in the downloads with the original, full resolution image files for each map.

Hi there!
Unfortunately the DMs Guild Community Content doesn't allow us to produce content for Greyhawk. You'll find adventures featuring gods from the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, Eberron and Theros.

Hi Richard!
Uncaged: Goddesses focuses on the neutral and evil goddesses. So as a good goddess, Selune isn't featured directly. *However*, the adventure written about Shar (Selune's sister) is centered around something called the Dark Moon Heresy, which involves both Shar and Selune, and their relevant priesthoods.

Hi Claire!

Thank you for your question. We do plan on bundling it in with the other books in the discounted bundle eventually, but that is probably quite some time away since Uncaged: Goddesses is so newly released.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
