Hektula's Khyber Codex

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Explore the demiplanar depths of the world of Khyber in this fifth-edition expansion for the Eberron campaign setting. The Khyber Codex contains over 38 demiplanes of all shapes and sizes with which to populate the World Below – each an unreal realm of wonder and danger in equal measure. Delve into the aberrant Prisons of the Lords of Madness, heist ancient weapons from the Hearts of the Overlords, and explore the Shadows of alternate realities for unique adventures in Eberron’s darkest depths.

Written by the Bloody Scribe of Ashtakala, each demiplane features detailed notes, ambience, monsters, environmental effects, templates and shiny loot to ensure a fun experience for Dungeon Masters and players alike. Alongside them are boss stat blocks for the Daelkyr, nearly 200 random encounters, 100+ trinkets, 20+ monster templates, 70+ magic items and 13 evolving artifacts of the Overlords – the dire weaponry known as the Echoes of the End. Oh, and of course, interplanar fishing rods and a disconcerting man named Geoff.

If you’re a fan of interplanar or underdark adventures, dastardly villains and dire straits, the Khyber Codex awaits!

Hi,
There will not be a PoD version coming out, as the layout and editing were not done with a physical copy in mind. There might be a lot of 'cut-off' of visual elements if it's printed. That said, if you do want to print it, you have my wholehearted support - feel free!
Thanks,
Jamie

Love this - Have you thought about adding/expanding to other overlords? I have a campaign long-term built around Edrantulku, the Oathbreaker. May reflavor some of the aspects you suggested for Bel Shalor/Sakinnirot/Sul Khatesh since there are similarities to draw from.

Thank you! Eldrantulku is an Overlord that I found conceptually challenging with regards to making a unique heart demiplane. Since Bel Shalor is the Overlord of paranoia and the fear of one's fellow mortals, I thought that it would be very hard to make another distinct demiplane for Eldrantulku. I agree with you that you could definitely use either Bel Shalor or Sakinnirot's Demiplane as a base, or even combine the two, in order to create one for Eldrantulku.

I think my personal answer would be to take the distinct factions and scarce resources of Bel Shalor's Heart, then give it the 'Patient Plans' Demiplane property of Sakinnirot's Tempest of Ire instead of Bel Shalor's 'Apostate Faith'. That should create something like a city divided into factions, that have to use diplomacy and subtle schemes to survive. They all know that they're trying to play each other, but to gain power, each faction has no choice but to 'play the game' and try and one-up their enemies (and allies!).

You are awesome - Cannot wait to throw my party into the wiles of Eldranktulku's demiplane!

Question: How much of the text is devoted to advice for adapting Out of the Abyss for Eberron? I was told that section exists and I just wanna know how large and/or in depth it is.

Hi,
I have roughly half a page of conversion notes, focusing on how to reflavor the factions and demon princes to fit with Eberron lore. It's on page 108, which you can see in full using the Full Preview. Otherwise, the demiplanes of the Codex are, by their nature, perfect environments to use for encounters or underdark locales for the travel sections of the campaign. If you have any questions about specifics, or would otherwise like to discuss adapting the campaign, please feel free to drop me a message either here or on the Eberron Discord server.
Thanks!

An incredible tome of wonderful prose regarding the realms of the Dragon Below. I initially wanted to get this just for information on one Overlord and ended up engrossed in the entire 150 page book. Well worth the price

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
