EB-EP-04 The Last War

Read the preview text for EB-20. It refers to the previous events of EB-EP-04. Therefore, EB-20 is meant to be run as the last portion of the adventure path.

I haven't played or read these, but perhaps it functions as a denouement and wraps up a bunch of dangling plot threads to give the PCs closure.

I'm confused too. It feels like they accidentally took the sendee's name from that letter instead of the sender's name. My solution would be to replace Rumeo with Gorth, meaning that it is Gorth d'Cannith who leads the test team and whom the party needs to chase down in Part 3. And in this case, Gorth wrote the letter when stashing the Oracle, expecting to send it off to Rumeo, who may have operated in another city and acted as an assistant or intermediary to Sulring.

It's an error - Ira's code should be "Corvo"

This is unfortunately a continuity error. All references to "12 years previous" in EB-05 should be adjusted to "2 years previous". Well spotted, and apologies - we'll try to fix this in a future update.

Will, if I'm not mistaken, I believe you will also need to rewrite EB-03's journal page (Handout 3). The 16 Olarune entry was written 3 days prior to another written entry, presumably before Curla Hurwinch also died on the Day of Mourning.

Could you elaborate on the EB-03 Journal problem? I'm not sure I follow.

Oh, I see. The timeline suggested by the handout is:

- 986-??-?? (twelve years previous): Graystrife raids Xen'drik for the skull, but it's stolen by Irullan first.
- 998-02-16 (EB-03, Handout #3): Irullan (bearing the skull) visits Curla Hurwinch and her necromantic beacon prototype, near Kalazart.
- 998-02-20 (The day of Mourning): Irullan's sister Naori dies near Kalazart.
- 998-??-?? (EB-11): Irullan says everything she did was for the noble reason of bringing her sister back

Which means Irullan would have to be lying in EB-11, and she actually got the Skull for other (less sympathetic) reasons. Nothing wrong with that, I guess, except that she's much less sympathetic and there's less reason to risk a paradox her save Naori in EB-EP-04.

I think I'm going to use this timeline instead, and make the cabin an entirely random/unrelated thing where Curla was just hoping to use the beacon in the battle against Kalazart in a few days.

- 998-02-20...See more (The day of Mourning): Irullan's sister Naori dies near Kalazart. Irullan vows to bring her back.
- 998-??-?? (shortly after): Irullan joins the Emerald Claw for access to necromantic knowledge and starts climbing the ranks
- 996-??-?? (two years previous): Graystrife raids Xen'drik for the skull, but it's stolen by Irullan first.
- In the meantime Irullan tries to use the Emerald Claw's resources to find Naori's (hopefully preserved) corpse in the Mournland, and uses the Skull to ensure her own survival while working for her Emerald Claw masters - she is eventually assigned to Salvation and tasked with resurrecting Big Moe (EB-EP-01).
- 998-??-?? (EB-11): Irullan says every evil thing she did was for love! She swore to protect her little sister, and failed. Great sympathy abounds!?

To support this, I might reorder EB-05 a bit and have the flashback be the result of Flamewind doing some divination on Irullan's name or something... haven't got there yet!

Regarding Mournland survivors, very few people are canonically supposed to have survived unless they escaped the cataclysm using magic, or managed to outrun the spreading mists. The Eberron: Rising from the Last War book has a few background flavour options that suggest characters did survive but were twisted somehow by the magic. For Oracle of War, most major NPCs who went missing on the day but are later found in the Mournland are presumed to have escaped Cyre, become lost in the chaos that immediately followed, and then been captured by renegade warforged (this applies specifically to Sulring Mroranon and Jara Blue). Aaren d'Cannith is presumed to have been shielded by the magic of the Lifespark Foundry. Hope that helps!

That helps a ton. Thanks! I had reasonably presumed both Sulring and Jara were definitively in Cyre during the Mourning. If Sulring was actually elsewhere, then captured shortly after the Mourning, that's fine. But Jara's survival is still the most difficult for me to reconcile, given his punitive assignment to the vanguard on a battlefield in Cyre, where he was presumable killed (or captured). Is there more to his survival story to be revealed in EB-20, or am I just missing some simple context clues that make his escape from Cyre (and the Mourning) more believable?

And for the record, I just remembered my third and fourth-biggest ambitions for a custom Eberron campaign: finally take my players all the way through levels 1-20, and run an escort mission to rescue Jaela Daran from imminent danger and return her to safety back in Flamekeep (I had imagined a kidnapping scheme masterminded by one of the cardinals, leaving Jaela more vulnerable absent most of her power outside Flamekeep, but close enough!)....See more Also throw in draconic prophecies and a lightning rail heist, and I believe you've literally checked off everything I've ever wanted to do with the Eberron setting since I first laid my hands on the 3.5 ECS book over a decade ago (not to mention adding giant mech battles and an airship crash/free-fall, which I never knew I needed until now).

As I'm still tracking unused legacy events, I already know EB-20 is going to be WILD! Looking forward to it!

Hopefully I'm asking the right person, will there be a map bundle for the complete second year (including the epics) after EB-20 releases?

There certainly will! The Year 2 bundle will include maps for episodes 11-20 and Epics 3&4. We'll also be releasing a complete Oracle of War bundle, compiling all content from years 1&2.

Any idea on a timeline for the bundle release of the adventures? I'm planning to start this series soon and would prefer not to buy individually.
