The Curse of Strahd Companion is your comprehensive guide to running 5th Edition's greatest and grimmest campaign. The Companion dives through every chapter of Curse of Strahd and incorporates Wyatt Trull's mithral-bestselling module, The Wedding at Ravenloft as the campaign's climax. This chapter focuses on Old Bonegrinder and includes:

  • Death in the Dead of Night. A nighttime storyline you can use to push the adventurers to Old Bonegrinder. The adventurers' camp is beset upon by undead shepherded by a Barovian witch. The dead prove legion and relentless. As the adventurers take flight, they find an old windmill... Do they dare seek asylum inside or take their chances on the road?
  • Dark Bargains & Malisons. The hags are an opportunity like no other. The Companion provides advice on how to link Morgantha to The Feast of St. Andral in Vallaki, spirit the adventurers into Castle Ravenloft, or spare the party's lives in return for a curse. From combat tactics to sample dialogue, every aspect of the coven is covered.
  • Dramatis Personae. A handy guide detailing all characters featured in this chapter of the campaign, with advice and variants.
  • Areas of the Windmill. An in-depth guide to the windmill's areas with new flavor text.
  • DM Notes. Notes including but not limited to spicing up the region with valuable roleplay with select NPCs. In particular, the Companion repaints Old Bonegrinder so it is not as obvious Morgantha and her daughters are monsters. This variant includes read-aloud text to keep the ruse going as long as possible.
  • Magic Item Descriptions. Save yourself the time of digging through the Dungeon Master's Guide to determine how the magic items in this chapter work.
  • Monster Stats. Time is precious, and matters all the more in combat. Appendix B has the statistics for the NPCs used in this chapter!
  • Maps. A new map by CzRPG featuring the Old Bonegrinder megaliths in case combat spills out into that dreadful area!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
