The Weird Deck of Many Wyrds

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Weird Deck of Many Wyrds is designed to be a campaign ending artefact. It is has been conceived with the one sole purpose of turning the world you and your players have created and inhabited together for the last year or several months, completely on its head, to cause upheavals that make that big bad dragon seem insignificant by comparison, and to attempt to draw your game to a curious close with a series of cataclysmic bangs and equally strange whimpers. All while your players continue to stumble through this new Boschian landscape that was formerly their world of adventure.

Draw from the deck, it might be a good outcome. But be prepared, have you rolled up a couple of spare characters yet? No?

Now might be the time.

                                                            ...

The Weird Deck of Many Wyrds is a 26 card deck, many with interpretations that include outcomes based on die rolls that allow the card deck to generate over 80 outcomes, feeling fresh each time you use it. As well as having each card's artwork set out to allow for home printing and laminating (in order that your players might draw from an actual deck), the supplement also covers a set of alternative scenarios as to how your players might stumble across the deck in game, how to have a magic using NPC (with the DMs help of course) use the cards for divination, the lore surrounding the cards creation, who made them, why? And how?

50+ pages of DM focussed inspiration. All illustrated with original artwork throughout.

Beyond their direct and obvious in-game use, the cards can also be used individually (as all my “Shattered Coast Adventure Resources’ are designed to be used) as inspiration for DMs, in terms of  quests, rewards, punishments and other problems for your players to overcome, all able to be cherrypicked from within the text and lore in small parts or in large chunks as the DM sees fit.

I hope you and your players enjoy it.

This DM focussed supplement gives your DM a range of choices, plot hooks and options with or without using the artefact at its core in the game. Including:

- Lore on "the creator" and creation of the magical artefact in question, including historical NPCs and location names.

- Lore on a unique and strange form of combinatorial magic devised by one of those NPCs.
- Mechanics (including crunchier variant rules) on how to use the artefact with your players.

- A concept map/flowchart showing a potential narrative journey for the artefact, for before, during and after it leaves your PCs possession.

- Little to no padding with info found elsewhere, but with references inc, core manual page number refs given for WotC 5e products for easy ref checking for DMs.

- 26 unique monochrome designs for each of the fate cards in the deck discussed. Designed and painted by the writer/artist.

- Plus more than a dozen other full colour inspirational narrative illustrations and sundry spot illustrations throughout, all custom created for this supplement by the writer/artist.

- 26 fate card descriptions including many multi-option outcomes that can simply be rolled on a die with well over 80 outcomes, making repeated use of the deck in combination potentially very different each time.

- Inspiration for multiple factions, organisations, cults and their agendas. Including a table for coming up with names for them.

- Multiple creatures and artefacts mentioned in lore, as well as magical objects, artefacts, powers, curses, and even mounts all potentially gifted by this deck of fate.

- A huge variety of plot hooks, encounter ideas, and jumping off points for side quests or new adventures.

- Additional appendices on how you might find such an artefact during an adventure, tables on creating encounters with magical object traders, plus...
- on meeting magic users who use the artefact for divination, and how your DM can include divination in your encounter.

- Plus how to use the artefact “out of game” to help devise your adventure through random drawing of the cards.

…and more.

I can't review this as I am another publisher but I think this product is not only abslutely stunning just to look at (the artwork is worth the money by itself) but intricate and imaginative functions of the deck are bound to inspire. It's got my head in a spin just reading it. Top job! Lets have some more!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
