"We Calmed the Tides of War" Descriptor: The heroes must find the mithral hand mirror in Good Mead, but they discover a town in turmoil - rife with murder, intrigue, and worse. A four-hour adventure for Tier 1 characters. Optimized for APL 3.

See the Frozen North through fey eyes! Icewind Dale is a land of frozen mystery and terror, but this realm isn't without its whimsy. Fey shenanigans abound even during the time of Auril's curse. In "From the Midnight Sun," heroes learn about the fey intrigue gripping the land and enjoy run-ins with ancient fey manipulators Jeny Greenteeth, the Prince of Frost, the Sisters of Lament, and more. A simple fetch quest becomes a race for survival, culminating in an epic battle your players will certainly not forget.

"We Calmed the Tides of War" is Part 3 of a 4-part campaign, "From the Midnight Sun." The description for that campaign is below, as well as the names of the other parts of this Tier 1 spanning campaign.

What Is "From the Midnight Sun?"

This campaign product is something new for Adventurers League. "From the Midnight Sun" blends the best elements of hardcovers, adventure modules, and home play.

Campaign Descriptor: "Jeny Greenteeth sends the heroes through a magical snow globe to fetch a mithral hand mirror. Fey intrigue harries the heroes at every turn. A 16-hour campaign for Tier 1 characters. Optimized for APL 1-4."

"From the Midnight Sun" is beautifully laid out by a talented and diverse team of creatives. Like our other collaborations, this campaign features original art. In the style of the Word Refinery and D8 Summit Charities, this product pushes the boundaries of typical presentation to create a rich and novel experience for player and Dungeon Master alike - all while promoting diverse voices in the gaming community.

Laid out similarly to "Lost Tales of Myth Drannor," "From the Midnight Sun" consists of four adventures - each part of an expansive campaign. While each can be ran individually, running these adventures in order allows players to experience a spanning story with a level progression from 1 to 5 over the 16+ hours of play.

The adventure design is less linear and more of a toolbox, in a way common in the D&D hardcovers. This allows a Dungeon Master to customize their tale to the tastes and abilities of their players.

The individual adventure names contained within this campaign are:

  • DC-PoA DES-05A Land of Ice and Snow, by Jonathan Connor Self, built for APL 1 (Adventure Seed: Breaking Ice-olation)
  • DC-PoA DES-05B Drive Our Ships to New Lands, by Ian Gould, built for APL 2 (Adventure Seed: Do You Know the Way to Lonely Wood)
  • DC-PoA DES-05C We Calmed the Tides of War, by Elizabeth Banerjee, built for APL 3 (Adventure Seed: A Dark Horse)
  • DC-PoA DES-05D Rebuild All Your Ruins, by Jonathan Connor Self, built for APL 4 (Adventure Seed: I'd Like to Make a Return, Please)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
