D&D Adventurers League Pack: The Wild Beyond the Witchlight

It’s finally here! Every eight years, the Witchlight Carnival comes to town and delights guests from far and wide with games, food, and other magical delights! Step right up and enter, but make sure you’ve got your ticket!

This product contains everything you’ll need to immerse your players in the fey domain of Prismeer. It includes:

  • WBW The Wild Beyond the Witchlight Adaptation. This provides guidance for how to run The Wild Beyond the Witchlight in an Adventurers League setting. It even includes suggestions on how to break the adventure down into 2-hour sessions; perfect for scheduling game days or planning your convention.
  • WBW-EP The Witchlight Carnival. Want to experience the Witchlight Carnival as an immersive, multi-table 3-hour event? Then look no further; this provides guidance on how to do it! This is an epic adaptation of Chapter 1 of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight.
  • WBW-PR Lost Things. And last but certainly not least, this prelude adventure is set years before the events that transpire in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. During this 2-hour adventure, your players create kid characters and explore the carnival unaware of the malevolence that lurks within.

A little disappointed in the adaptation for making Chapter 1 an Epic for AL. Thought there would be options for combat to make it more of a true Epic. I know WBW is more RP focused but would hope that WotC would have options for people that want the other 2 pillars as well.

Also disappointed at the low quality of the handouts. I played this during the Celebration last week and am excited to run it for my own AL group. That excitement has waned a bit with the low quality handouts that do not translate cleanly or as pretty as I remember to my VTT

Any chance of getting the handouts as separate files, especially with better resolution?

The image resolution needs to be fixed. Even the handouts all look blurry and pixelated.

Looking for a creative answer for the question I know someone at my table will have. Player rolls a younger elf lets say, plays through Lost Things, no problem. But then when visiting the Carnival again for WBtW proper, how is the human who was in their childhood party still alive a century or more later, presumably, when the elf finally reaches adventuring age?

It's 5e. So since Elves reach physical maturity at 18 like humans. They could go off and be an Adventurer if they wanted. Or maybe they were just going back to the Carnival anyway and then adventure gets thrust upon them.

Another might be the fey wild time effects described in the DMG. If either the elf or the human went with the carnival or got lost in the Feywild in-between time can be different. For example, the human trapped in the Feywild could experience 8 years of relative time while on the prime material where the elf is it was 80 years so the elf is now an adult. Conversely, the elf could go to the Feywild either with the carnival or feylost and experience a century or more of relative time only to come back and find that it's only been 8 years on the prime material.

Two thumbs up from me! I like this way of a guidance document for an HC!

As always, a prime job by Travis and AL Admins! :)

Very cool. I love how it breaks down the book for DDAL too and the mini adventures for both multi-tables and for the single run carnival too. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
