Domains of Delight (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

All proceeds from Domains of Delight go to non-profit Extra Life, an online grassroots movement working to save sick and injured kids through the power of play.

Domains of Delight are to the Feywild what Domains of Dread are to the Shadowfell: sequestered realms governed by powerful beings. Whereas a Domain of Dread is ruled by a Darklord, a Domain of Delight is ruled by an archfey—the most powerful of Fey creatures. An archfey gives form to their Domain of Delight, shaping it in ways unique to their personality. Some Domains of Delight are bright and cheery, while others are gloomy, but each one reflects the emotional state of its ruler. A Domain of Delight can be as small as a few acres or as big as a country.

This accessory helps you create Domains of Delight and the archfey who rule them, building on the information about the Feywild that appears in the Dungeon Master’s Guide. The ideas, tips, and tables in this chapter are meant to spark your imagination. Use what excites and intrigues you, discard what doesn’t, and make up the rest!

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

I noticed that they added this on DnDBeyond, so if we bought it here will we get something to access it on DnDBeyond?

I'm so disappointed. If you're looking for Yarnspinner things, you're better off just getting the adventure bundle for Thither. In Roll20, WbtW gives you Yarnspinners art, and says the NPC is available through Domains of Delight, purchasable here in dmsguild. All that I see is a single stat block and two small paragraphs of description. This character is meant to share stories, and there is absolutely nothing here. I understand this is an addition for creating new Feywild domains, but I feel as though I was tricked by WotC into purchasing this to flesh out Thither/the Uncorrupted Fairy Ring. The fact that they give the story tracker and the NPC pages is ridiculous as they are already in WbtW.

Seems bizarre to me that this was not included in WBTW. This was one of the main things I was hoping to get with WBTW, and it's definitely a bummer that I have to pay more money for something that should have been included, and now I can't get a print version. I bought the hardcover adventure because I use print, I don't use PDFs/VTT's/etc. It's great to have mechanics for creating your own domains, but in addition I also would love to have seen a deeper dive into existing domains. I am very interested in looking at a comprehensive guide to the feywild with all the locations and lore. It seems like I will have to look elsewhere, and that's why I like this website. Seems like these days much of the third party content does a better job at fleshing out the lore, history, and game mechanics people really want than WOTC does for their own worlds in their own game.

IF YOU WANT A POD (Sorry for the all caps, it gets lost otherwise)

I contacted DriveThruRPG and they said a POD is completely out of their hands; you have to contact Wizards of the Coast and ask them directly.
So: Here is Wizard's phone number from facebook: +1 425-226-6500

https://www.facebook.com/Wizards-of-the-Coast-540208589333239/about/?ref=page_internal

If enough people request a POD directly they might get around to offering one. Dare to dream.

I enjoy this content and wish it had been in Witchlight. That said, I don't think it goes far enough. I like the guidelines for creating your own Domains. However, with such a rich history of Feywild lore and so many existing archfey, I would have loved Wizards' 5e take on how all of that fits into current lore. I feel like at this point, we will never see a more fully fleshed-out Feywild - which is fine. My own imagination can do wonders as a DM. But I was very interested in seeing how it all fit together for Wizards, especially now that we have an official 5e Feywild adventure.

I'm unable to download these files. When I use Chrome, it shows the pop up window which indicates that the PDFs are prepped and that download should begin, but then downloading never begins. When I use Firefox, I get an error saying that it can't read the file it's trying to save. I end up getting a partially downloaded file which sometimes auto deletes and other times just stays in my folder. I did manage to get a file to complete downloading after about two minutes, but it's zero bytes in size so I imagine that's not the correct file. Please advise.

Use the "Contact Us" button at the very bottom left of the screen. Or this link:
https://support.drivethrurpg.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

DriveThruRPG is really good at getting back to you quickly if you use the "Contact Us" form, but I've never actually seen them reply to comments on the forum so you will be in for a very, very long wait if you rely on this. :-)

Best of luck!

Yeah, I realized that it might be an issue so I went through that link and informed them of my troubles. I got a response back from them so hopefully the issue has been resolved. :fingers-crossed:

this feels somewhat like a deception, billed as the feywild equivalent to vanrichten's guide to Ravenloft, in terms of Domains in the feywild, however it is mostly just charts for how to create your own Domains, which is fine however the listing in the "Wild Beyond the Witchlight" made this seems as if it would contain already created domains for us to play with, and it does not, Admittedly that may be on me for thinking an $8 PDF file would contain the equivalent of a full book, but i thought we would get more than we did

I'm really starting to wonder if Hasbro is trying to put something over on their stockholders by customer manipulation (artificially drive the stock price down so insiders can buy more stock cheaply). How do you keep your customers happy? Not by doing what Wizards of the Coast did with this product. So, instead of including the rules in the book, you mention this product on a picture in the book (page 131). Then, to add insult to injury, you only offer it as a PDF and not as a POD. I bought the book because I wanted a hard copy. But now I CAN'T get a professional quality hard copy of the actual rules. This is either blatant customer manipulation, or complete incompetence.

Sorry, I should clear up the above review. Domains of Delight is a necessary supplement to D&D 5e The Wild Beyond The Witchlight. Well, necessary if you actually want to create some domains yourself. And half of the product is specifically designed as extra info for The Wild Beyond The Witchlight. It should have been included in the hard copy of The Wild Beyond The Witchlight but for some unfathomable reason it wasn't. As I mentioned above, this is either incompetence, or in hindsight, probably a pathetic desire to look "good" while actually being just greedy. Cutting down on the page size of The Wild Beyond The Witchlight gives them more profit. Having Domains of Delight be used for charity gives them the veneer of caring, without doing any work. You know what, Wizards, if you actually cared you would have included this product in the actual book where it belonged and then donated a percentage of the book price to the charity itself. But that would have cut into your own profits, eh? So...See more

Is there a print friendly version of this included in the purchase? I don't enjoy trying to flip through PDFs, but I also don't enjoy trying to print dozens of pages of full-bleed artwork at home.

I purchased this. To answer my question: No, there is not a print friendly version. It's all full color background and *large* full color art.
It should give me a starting point to develop some feywild adventure for Adventurers League, but it's a very rough sketch. The last line of the product description is "...make up the rest!" Yep.

It seems disingenuous of WotC to:
Firstly, remove this from published material (I know WBtWL is an adventure module, but if you're not planning a full-on book for the feywild itself it makes sense to keep it together. If there is additional content to be published on the feywild in future... then this is being unnecessarily "commercial"); and
Secondly, 'proceeds for charity' will be offset against WotC's tax dollars.

Buy the product if you wish, but I feel it's disproportionate to pay $8 for content that was slated for an original release book, that was excluded on the basis of "not fitting" and has been leveraged to increase WotC's social capital and offset tax...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
