Unleash over 300 terrifying new monsters!

Monster Manual Expanded III continues what the two previous Adamantine Best-Selling bestiaries have started, providing dungeon masters with additional creature options to help fill their adventures. There are 320 statblocks (using the new Monsters of the Multiverse statblock style) spread across this 280+ page tome, most of which are archetypes and variants found in the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, and other official 5E adventurer books. There will be more new monsters this third time around, though, most of which come from earlier D&D editions. A large number of them will have legendary actions, giving the dungeon master more boss options. The biggest change, however, are the gorgeous, professionally commissioned art pieces that will inspire DMs and terrify players!

Why is it $34.99? We apologize if the price is higher than the previous two books but let us explain. The first two Monster Manual Expanded books used mostly stock art for the images. Monster Manual Expanded III, in contrast, has 140 exclusive artwork pieces that were commissioned from professional WOTC level artists. This is where the costs of the book went.  We need to price it at $34.99 for the book to earn a profit once a certain number of copies have been sold. Also, the average price per page of the top 20 DM's Guild books is between 15 to 19 cents. Monster Manual Expanded III only costs 12.2 cents per page. This, plus the exclusive artwork, means you are getting great value for your money.

When will the Hardcover/Print-on-Demand be released? The print-on-demand option will be available by late November/early December. Because it is difficult to edit a physical copy once it's been released, we need this waiting period to ensure we address any overlap with Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, as well as fix any issues/typos/errors that we find till then. We want to be sure we give you the best possible hardcover product.

How much will the Hardcover/PoD be? We can't give you the exact price yet but it should be a little less than what the current costs of the previous two MME books are right now unless OBS printing costs change.

Need Virtual Tabletop Tokens that use the book's art? Grab them from DrivethruRPG!

Where is the Fantasy Grounds version? You can grab it from the image link below!

Super amazing achievement with this book. Worth every penny. It a little annoying that the Table of Contents linking seems to not work... I'm using acrobat on iPad, and it doesn't work (although it appears to work for your other editions). Much respect and thanks!

Hi all. If you're wondering why MME3 suddenly dropped from the top 2 spot and also lost its Platinum best-selling medal, it's because we are currently prepping the PoD versions and somehow the book's start date (Oct.29) got pushed to the latest date. We are still in a Premedia phase (prepping trial/draft) so please be patient. In the meantime, I've emailed DM's Guild's administrators about the date switch error and hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Hi Clive. I can't give an exact date because I am still currently waiting for the PoD approval, which can take a few days. If approved, then I still have to order the physical drafts. Shipping times can be very unpredictable, even at premium rates (fastest) due to the pandemic and the coming holidays. Once I get the copies and there are no issues, they will become available. So best (no PoD issue and shipping delays) estimate for the release would be around early December if we're lucky. Hope you understand.

Is there a discounted bundle for all three volumes?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M October 14, 2021 10:50 pm UTC
CREATOR
Already answered your question in the other thread but repeating it here. There are no plans for any discounted bundle. Because DM's Guild doesn't have an option to bundle print-on-demand titles, I decided not to have any discount for the pdfs as well to avoid any confusion.

I would love to purchase this book (and the others too), but without a Foundry VTT ready option, it just isn't worth it. You really should consider packaging this content into a module and sell license keys to unlock it in Foundry.

Hi Bryan. I would love to sell this with a Foundry VTT option as well, but there's nothing I can do as DM's Guild has an exclusivity clause with Fantasy Grounds.

I disagree and some what think that "..it just isn't worth it" is somewhat disrespectful. I think the content of the book **regardless** of what platform you plan on using the content on, is definitely WORTH it. Inconvenient to YOU is another subject all together.

It would be really appreciated if you could keep a version of the document that still has the old Spellcasting feature for NPCs and monsters. A lot of DMs never had a problem with using spell slots for monsters and removing them limits the options a spellcasting monster has!

I do wish this there was a Roll20 friendly version of this, or one for Foundry.
Buying the tokens and the book and then still having to create each individual stat block myself is going to be a lot work for 45 Dollars.
It would also be nice if the art of each individual creature was available, without there being other creatures in the same picture.
I like being able to show my players the full art during the session without having to spoil things or show stuff that is unrelated.
Also, the resolution for the tokens seems a bit small. For larger tokens, especially ones for huge or gargantuan creatures, a resolution of 512 by 512 or 560 by 560 would be better.
Customer avatar
Dragonix M September 23, 2021 11:30 am UTC
CREATOR
I wish that were possible too. But unfortunately, both Roll20 and DMs Guild make it impossible. You can only purchase Roll20 products through Roll20's market. It's the same with DM's Guild, where DM's Guild products can only be sold through DM's Guild. Without DM's Guild, I won't be able to create creatures specific to the Forgotten Realms specific and those not included in the OGL.
Customer avatar
Alex M September 23, 2021 11:53 am UTC
That truly is a shame since a lot of people play on Roll20, me included. With Fantasy Grounds I would have to pay a lot of money just so that my players would get to play without needing a subscription.
WOTC really should get their *!§$%& together, because I bet that they are not increasing their profits by splitting costumers bases like this and making products such as these unattractive for a large number of customers.

Would it be possible to buy the art separately?

Roll20 is objectively inferior and more expensive than Fantasy Grounds Unity. Consider having a conversation with your group about making the switch. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but after a couple weeks you'll wonder why you waited so long to switch.

Hi Duncan. There are VTT tokens using the PDF's artwork that you can get at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/368935/Dragonixs-VTT-Monster-Tokens?affiliate_rem=1138250.

As for the book itself, only the Fantasy Grounds version is currently supported in the DM's Guild.

Hi there - love these and cannot wait for the hardcover - own the first two your work is fantastic!

Quick question - you mentioned no bundle with the broader MME books but will there be a bundle with the PDF and Hardcover version specific to MME 3?

Yes, there will be an MME 3 pdf and hardcover bundle, just like the other two. The PDF will be discounted by 50% (again, like the previous hardcover bundles).

Dang, well guess it means I can pick up the other books in the meantime. Will say the art shown so far looks fantastic, and absolutely seems worth the extra cost. I feel like bestiaries and monster manuals are the best place to have custom art in order to give inspiration to the DM for story building.

Okay, this is going to sound like a silly question, but is this an extension of the previous extended monster manuals and it's more content or is this a wholly different monster manual with more cool monsters? Either way, I'm wish listing this book!
Customer avatar
Dragonix M September 15, 2021 1:50 am UTC
CREATOR
Not entirely sure what you mean by extension of previously expanded monster manuals. If you are asking if the creature statblocks are just the same, then no, the statblocks here are unique and are not repetitions of any kind. I suggest checking the table of contents in the preview so you can see exactly what creatures are in the book.

If you are asking if the creature types are just expanding from the previous official bestiaries, then partly, yes. You will see more variations of those creatures (especially the humanoids and giants, since they tend to be tribal) here. But a huge chunk (more than 50%) are entirely new creatures.

I hope that answers your question. Again, I suggest you review the preview.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
