HARDCOVER / PRINT-ON-DEMAND is now AVAILABLE!!!

Unleash over 300 terrifying new monsters!

Monster Manual Expanded III continues what the two previous Adamantine Best-Selling bestiaries have started, providing dungeon masters with additional creature options to help fill their adventures. There are 320 statblocks (using the new Monsters of the Multiverse statblock style) spread across this 280+ page tome, most of which are archetypes and variants found in the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, and other official 5E adventurer books. There will be more new monsters this third time around, though, most of which come from earlier D&D editions. A large number of them will have legendary actions, giving the dungeon master more boss options. The biggest change, however, are the gorgeous, professionally commissioned art pieces that will inspire DMs and terrify players!

Why is it $34.99? We apologize if the price is higher than the previous two books but let us explain. The first two Monster Manual Expanded books used mostly stock art for the images. Monster Manual Expanded III, in contrast, has 140 exclusive artwork pieces that were commissioned from professional WOTC level artists. This is where the costs of the book went.  We need to price it at $34.99 for the book to earn a profit once a certain number of copies have been sold. Also, the average price per page of the top 20 DM's Guild books is between 15 to 19 cents. Monster Manual Expanded III only costs 12.2 cents per page. This, plus the exclusive artwork, means you are getting great value for your money.

Why is the Hardcover/PoD expensive? Costs of printing and paper globally have gone up during the pandemic. The cost of printing hardcover in DM's Guild has increased by 40% since March 2021, affecting not just MME3, but all hardcover options of other products in the DM's Guild, even the older ones.

Need Virtual Tabletop Tokens that use the book's art? Grab them from DrivethruRPG!

Where is the Fantasy Grounds version? You can grab it from the image link below!

Due to the absolutely horrible costs of hardcovers, is there a way to start seeing about doing softcovers? Because there isn't any fathomable world where I will pay $90 for a single 3rd party book. No insults to you guys; it's great stuff, but not "pay double what official content costs" great.

Now that we are beginning to see FoundryVTT content on here...is there now a possibility of getting a FoundryVTT module in the future? Or is there still an exclusivity part that as a consumer I don't know about? I have Purchased this (All 3) for FG, and one pdf, and I would gladly purchase it again for FoundryVTT. These manuals have been an integral part in bringing my encounters to the next level, and keeping my Veteran players on their toes.

Glad you like the books, Sean. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, DMs Guild has an exclusivity deal with Fantasy Grounds.

Hello, quick question. The PoD is discounted right now, but why isn't the PoD+pdf combo?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M April 20, 2022 7:51 am UTC
CREATOR
It is, actually. Otherwise, the PoD+pdf would cost 101.99.

Hi, is there any way to order the 1.05 version as POD? Can't stand the new WOTC stat blocks with dumbed down spellcasting but I loved your first & second release and would love to complete my collection on the shelf. Thanks!

Hi John. Unfortunately, we can't. We can only have one PoD version per book.

Love all of these books and plan to use them often, after the completion of the updates for MME 2 are complete and you begin planning for a fourth installment (if that's even on the table), could you guys consider a section of expanded Warforged? It would be interesting to see what you come up with and with all the new and impressive art being put into these, I would love to see some of your artists takes on warforged designs.

Is this a continuation of expanded II or a complete compendium? IE. can I buy this and it includes everything or should I buy both? thank you

Hi, Bradford. Each book in the series is a unique compendium. There is no overlap between any of the 3 books in the series.

Is there a version of this with original 5e style stat blocks or is that just something you chose not to develop? I ask since I find the new stat blocks so hamstrung as to be next to useless.

There is a 1.05 download available with classic spellcasting (1.07 is the latest version and has the spellcasting changes). See Dragonix comment from March 25.

I'm currently running a campaign with Illithid. Which volume of MME would be best for that?

Thanks in advance!
Customer avatar
Dragonix M April 08, 2022 7:55 pm UTC
CREATOR
All 3 books have illithids. Book 1 has 3 mind flayer variants and a wight version, as well as an illithid roper and darkmantle. Book 2 has an elder brain variant and an ulitharid variant, while book 3 has an illithidragon. So, book 1 probably but if you plan on a higher level campaign the other 2 would be useful too.

Does the POD have the spellcasting changes?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M April 06, 2022 3:54 pm UTC
CREATOR
Yes. The PoD will be the latest pdf version. There will be at least 2 more updates before the PoD is released.
Customer avatar
Dan C April 06, 2022 3:58 pm UTC
Does that mean that the POD is essentially "pre-order" at this stage and will be released with the updates later? Sorry if I misunderstand.
Customer avatar
Dragonix M April 06, 2022 4:11 pm UTC
CREATOR
Whoops sorry. I thought this was for MME 1. Just realized this was for MME3. To answer your question earlier, yes, the PoD already has the new spellcasting changes as well as othet new 2022 format changes.. This is the final version.

UPDATE:
- An older (1.05) version with the classic spellcasting format has been uploaded in .rar format for those who prefer the classic spellcasting format.
- Please note that because this is an older version, some of the new features/actions that were added in the newer versions because of the spellcasting changes will obviously not be present in this version.

Awesome work! Really love that you incorporated more celestial stat blocks.

As a quick question: I noticed in the review video from Nerd Immersion that the Nonplayer Characters section used the older spellcasting feature as opposed to the newer one WotC has been using. Is that version of MME3 from the Nerd Immersion video available for download? I like for the humanoid enemies my party face to have the same style of spellcasting as they do.

Just gave this and the other MM Expandeds each a 5 stars rating because of their value to me at least, taking into consideration how they will all be by the end of 2022 if things go according to plan. I didn't write any review because I'm not good at it.

Question: If 2024's "5.5e" makes it appropriate to use further updated stat blocks, I assume your intention is to then provide updates if you can?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M March 12, 2022 7:46 am UTC
CREATOR
Yes, of course. For PDFs, I will always do this. The challenge is the hardcovers/pods as that requires a long process and DM's Guild approval.

Is there a deeper reason there is no NPC stat block for the Alchemist Artificer?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M February 20, 2022 10:21 am UTC
CREATOR
No, not at all. Just as there is no deeper reason for not yet having statblocks for a totem warrior barbarian, creation college bard, life domain cleric, circle of stars druid, four elements monk, ancients paladin, etc.
At least there are already 2 artificer archetype statblocks in MME2, which is more than what other classes got. ;)

Great resource! Thank you so much. I am using some of the creatures from this in my conversion of the Shackled City.

The Eldritch Assassin has the following language in its spellcasting action: "The eldritch assassin casts one of the following spells..."

Was the word "one" supposed to be there? Also, I am so used to spellcasting not being in the action block, is this purposeful?

Hi Roy. This is part of the new format WoTC uses for its creature stat blocks, which was first introduced in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, and further made official in Monsters of the Multiverse.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
