INTO WONDERLAND

Into Wonderland is a book detailing an adventure in the Feywild, a setting for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. This book provides player options, encounters, variant rules, and a campaign of expeditions into the unknown centred around the city of Endercoast that has been spirited away from the Material Plane. To survive, you'll need to balance the needs of the displaced city with the mercurial whims of four powerful archfey.

What is the Feywild?

The Feywild is a timeless, forgotten place: the past, present, and future mix, and the old ways roll over to neverending change. Man still hangs on to the ways of the old world. The Feywild does as it pleases.

In more certain terms, the Feywild is a sister realm to the Material Plane home to the fey. It's a realm of fairy tales, a realm of wonder, and a realm of nameless horror.

Why the Feywild?

The Feywild is a setting for those who enjoy fairy tales, who like fairies and witches and mischief and magic, and who long to feel once again the sense of wonder and discovery they felt as children. It eschews dungeon crawling and tactical encounters for difficult, meaningful decision-making that balances the needs of many disparate and ineffable forces.

Most of all, the Feywild is a setting of the unknown. It's about striding forth into a realm of dreams, emotion, feelings, and wonder. All of this only works because of the juxtaposition between the other main setting of this adventure, the city of Endercoast, whose strict routines and rituals contrast heavily with the dreamlike nature of the fey.

What's Included?

  • Endercoast, a city plucked from its roots and replanted in the Feywild
  • Quirks of the Feywild, including four powerful archfey, a guide for creating new archfey, rules for travel using emotional truth instead of maps, chaotic seasonal and magical effects, pranks, consequences for getting lost, and 14 weird stops along the way
  • New races
  • New subclasses
  • New backgrounds
  • New feats
  • New spells
  • Fantastical questlines taking a party through the courts of the archfey and on magical journeys inspired by the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm
  • A whole heap of chaotic encounters with strange fey creatures
  • Dozens of new monsters, including 8 ancient beasts, 3 dangerous plants, 4 extremely powerful archfey, a bunch of NPCs based on the new subclasses of the book, creepy new fey like the darkwood stalker and the time vulture, a powerful hag, and more

New Races

Prove your worth as a bullywug in the glowing swamps, experience all life has to offer as four unique centaur subraces (fire beetle, shambling mound, unicorn, and wolf spider), hunt for your real identity as a changeling cursed by a hag, find your individuality as a dryad, play pranks as a faerie in the form of a pixie, sprite, or quickling, dazzle your enemies as a faerie dragon, bring glory to an archfey as a kuo-toa, tell jokes and do crimes as a satyr, or spread joy for your most beautiful creator as a stormcloud mephit created by the pixie princess of Dewdrops, Tettlebug Moonflower.

New Subclasses

Lose yourself to the chaos of battle as a barbarian on the Path of Mercury. Control and transform into plants as a druid of the Circle of Growth. Never stop moving and never stop fighting as a Survivalist fighter. Cultivate all living things as a monk who follows the Way of Gardens. Combine effective, preparatory druidic magic with advanced combat capabilities as a ranger that aligns with the Primal Warden archetype. Form a warlock's pact with powerful archfey, including the ever-patient Lord Cals, the jester Cirrus, the ever-expanding Tree of Infinity Dailili, or the tiny but exceptionally dangerous Tettlebug Moonflower. And while most wizards study in an academy, those who study in hermitage may become witches. Just how they like it.

New Backgrounds

As an archfey's courtier, your job is to fulfill the ineffable whims of your master. As a hag's servant, you've just been released after 14 years of servitude to the dangerous hag Dearest Gran, and now must find meaning in life after all this lost time.

New Spells

Spark infighting in your enemies' ranks with discord. Rescue others from nightmares with extract dream. Enchant household objects with the speed and skittishness of a mouse. And many more!

New Monsters

Can't give everything away in the description. ;)

Quality of Life

This campaign comes with the following quality of life features.

  • Over 500 in-text references that help you navigate all the interconnected sections of the book
  • Over 500 references to other published books like the Monster Manual and Player's Handbook that help you find what you need quickly
  • Total permission to grab OUTCLASSED: The NPC Statblock Compendium for free, another book I've published, to help manage NPCs throughout the adventure
  • Options to upgrade monsters or NPCs to new, more exciting statblocks if you have optional sourcebooks like Volo's Guide to Monsters
  • A player's guide, "Matthew's Guide to Wonderland", that you can give to prospective players
  • An alternative printer-friendly "Light Mode", at the sacrifice of most illustrations and all the fancy backgrounds

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
