Gracklstugh Battle Maps Pack

Update: This product has been upgraded from 2K resolution to 4K resolution and now includes a MOD file so you can easily load these battle maps into Fantasy Grounds with preset grids.

Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss supplementary battles maps for Underdark landmarks found in the Darklake District of the City of Blades (Gracklstugh). Locations include the Darklake Docks, Gholbrorn’s Lair Inn & Tavern, the Shattered Spire, and the Blade Bazaar. Each location has 4 versions (Day, Night, Grid, No Grid).

Is all that is needed for Fantasy grounds the module files? or do i need to also download the jpgs

Hello,

You can place the .mod file into the mods folder wherever you have Fantasy Grounds saved on your computer. That will allow you to access the images in Fantasy Grounds.

The jpgs are included in case you want to use them outside of Fantasy Grounds.

I just bought these map. They look great! But maybe I missed something. Are there walls, lights, effects, etc built into these maps for Fantasy Grounds? If not, have you made any that do?

Hello, thank you for your kind words and for reaching out. Some of the older map packs include grids, but not lights or walls. They were made way back in the day using Fantasy Grounds Classic. Newer map packs include lights, walls, and some effects. The listing for each map pack will say if it includes those items.

Low quality and horrendous maps... since there were no good preview of them (quite convenient huh) fell for it and bought them.

Do these all include LOS and lighting? some of the packs from the bundle mention it, but this one (and others) make no mention of that.

Hi Will, thank you for asking! Only packs that say LOS is included will have LOS. Older packs were created with Fantasy Grounds Classic, which lacked the ability to add LOS and lighting. I hope to eventually update older packs, but am prioritizing maps for the rest of OotA first.

Hey there. I really like the maps but the Dark Lake Docks seems to be "bugged". Across the forge areas there's HUGE stones that don't look like they belong. Could you have a look and let me know what's occurring. Cheers much.

I have literally no idea how they got there, but I will have an updated version available for download within the next hour or two. Awesome, best of luck to you! My players got themselves into a bit of trouble with the Stone Guard when landing at the Darklake Docks the first time. It was hilarious.

I hope you and your players have a great time! I offer a few Out of the Abyss map sets for Gracklstugh, Neverlight Grove, Blingdenstone, and traveling through the Underdark if you ever need more battle maps.

Hello, great maps. What are the dimensions [40x50 for examplo]of the maps of the different packs? I know I can count "by hand" looking at the gridded version, but some maps look like they hundreds of grids.

Hi Jorge,

Thank you! The dimensions are different for every map and every pack, depending on the scale of the scene (more grid squares for more "zoomed out" areas). I believe the largest dimensions are 120 grid squares wide by 100 grid squares high. It just depends on how much area is represented on the map. I hope this answer is helpful.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
