Welcome to the first installment in the "Detailed Encounters" series!
Each "Detailed Encounter" - features new monsters with unique stat blocks, new magic items, a custom battle map, and detailed NPCs. It also has story hooks and advice enough, to quickly turn it into a separate adventure!
About "Ambushers of the Splitrock pass":
"Splitrock pass always had an aura of mystery and a host of legends connected to it. When traders and travelers started disappearing on the pass, people quickly spread rumors that grew more strange and macabre with each day. Will your players stop disappearings and uncover the real truth behind them? Or will they become victims themselves?"
In "Ambushers", you players will fight against the raiding party of duergars battleragers, save famous (in close circles) bard Otto the Garlic Head, make a shifty ally with Pishka, the mind master, and, potentially, delve into the Underdark to find the ancient fortress of alhoon - Telax the Secret Keeper, who was trapped in his own vault.
This book contains a detailed description of the encounter with duergars, including tactics, battle map, and motivations of characters involved. Also, you can find a complete backstory, starting quest hooks, and suggestions of how you can unfold this encounter and turn it into a separate adventure.
"Ambushers" is best suited for an adventuring party of 4-5 characters of levels 4 to 5, potentially scalable up to 8th level (advice on how to do it - inside the book).
"Storm Kings Thunder" - you can run this encounter during chapter 3 of the STK hardcover (The Savage Frontier). Advice on how this can be done best - in the book!
