Fantasy Grounds Combat Automation

This is an EXTENSION for use with the Fantasy Grounds VTT and specifically the D&D 5E ruleset only!

This extension allows to fully automate combat for player characters.

Main Feature 1: Automating actions

This extension will automatically execute actions one by one when you click on a button to the left of the weapon/spell/power name (see picture).

By default, all actions will be used in the order from left to right.

If the attack misses or the save fully succeeds, the actions afterward will not be executed.

You can change the number of actions executed by default in options.

You can limit the number of actions per spell by putting "->#" in spell/power name, where # is the number of actions to execute (e.g. "->2" will only execute the first two actions).

Shift-clicking use power button will not execute any actions.

Feature 2: Expending spell slots on cast and spell upcasting

This extension will also automatically expend the appropriate spell slot when you click on a star button ("use power" button).

If the character has both spell slots and pact magic slots the priority will be pact magic -> spell slots.

Upcasting spells is possible by first entering the intended cast level. However, you will need to adjust the effect of the spell manually (in many cases as easy as right-clicking to add additional damage die).

You can set the default upcast level for each spell by adding "@#" in the spell name (e.g. "@3" will try to cast the spell at 3rd level).

Ctrl-clicking the button will execute all actions, without expending a spell slot. Alt-clicking executes all actions as ritual casting (without expending slot and adding 10 minutes to casting time).

Double-clicking the "Upcast" field displays a help message.

This extension can be combined with the "Instant Dice" extension to achieve instant combat.

This extension was developed and tested for both Fantasy Grounds Unity and Classic.

I Sent this in ⁠rob2e (Fantasy Grounds / DMs Gu…⁠sean-p-kane-javins-stuff chat. He asked me to try and reach out to you so you guys could possibly Collab in solving this issue.
Javin's Action Chat Bubbles and Combat Automation are conflicting with one another. The Chat bubbles don't pop up in the chat with Combat Automation activated. But chat bubbles do pop up with Combat Automation deactivated. Not sure what the conflict is? No errors pop up when I roll. Just seems the tables aren't triggering?
I hope you and Sean can work together and figure this out. Both these Ext. are great and it would suck to only be able to use one or the other.

While I have issues with the product, it does generally work.

Try in a fresh, test campaign with no other extension and see if it works.

If you have the problem I did, the extension didn't show up in the list until I usd 7-Zip to unzip it in the extensions folder, then next time I loaded up FGU, it appears and works normally. I'd be interested in knowing the results.

I discovered something strange with CA. I have no other extensions loaded and can still reproduce the effects - Bear in mind, everything works when I am on the DM side of things, but when I test with a player, it is on that side I find the break. So, I take 2 player sheets and drop them into the CT and mark mine hostile and the player friendly. Then, if I attack the player it works fine. If the player attack the hostle pc, uses the CA button to make the attack, it will roll the attack, but not display a hit or a miss, even if they hit above the ac, it doesn't report it as a hit or miss, just nothing. However, if they roll a nat 20, it rolls damage per normal.

As a DM, if I open their character sheet and use the button to attack, it will correctly report a hit or a miss and roll damage on a hit.

and at all times, if we use the regular built in die roll to attack/hit it works.

So the button only seem broken on the player side of things when attacking another...See more

I've also noticed, unless I use 7-zip to "extract" this so the file folder of combat automation appears in my extensions folder, this extenion never appears inside my list. I temporarly removed all extension from the folder and while some theme ones were replaced, this one never appeard in the list, until I put the extracted combat automation folder into it, then it was in the list.

Is this being updated-Don't see you on Discord? Seeing this error; Handler error: [string “campaign/scripts/Combat_Automation.lua”]: 163: attempt to index global ‘rAction’ (a nil value). Especially when you unlock a Spell.

Update: I fixed the error message I kept getting.
For those interested, extract the extension, then open combat_automation.lua in a text editor. Scroll to line 204 and replace ActorManager.getType(Actor) == "pc" with ActorManager.isPC(Actor). Save close and launch FGU, and the message is gone. Hope this helps

Hi. This extension has been throwing the following message in chat since the latest update from FGU: ActorManager.getType - DEPRECATED - 2021-01-01 - Contact forge/extension author.
Will you be addressing this issue, or is this just how it's going to be from now on? It does not break anything, it just clutters the chat log. Thank you

Hi, I'm using the extension and I really like it, but even though the option is set to "All", only I as a DM can use the automation when I click on the character sheet, while my players can't. What ends up happening is that the attack rolls and, even if it hits, the damage won't roll automatically: however, when they roll for damage, the damage gets rolled twice. Am I doing something wrong?

Love the automation, I created a staff of healing with Cure wounds, lesser restoration and mass cure wounds as effects on the staff. I must manually mark off uses (worked great before ext). when I added this extension, when I cast either of the 1st 2 powers, if auto checks off a 1st or 2nd level spell. and won't cast the mass cure wounds (too high a level). Not sure if I made the staff sloppy or if it is an extension issue

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
