The Hunt is on, but are you the hunter or the prey?

The Old Host is an adventure in the Feywild for 3rd-5th level characters. It is part III of the bestselling The Grove of Cernunnos series, but can easily be run as a standalone adventure.

Contains:

  • A wonderfully laid out 51 page PDF with over 40 pieces of art.
  • A cat & mouse style hunt that spans the whole adventure.
  • A whole new Autumnal Feywild forest setting, The Waning Wood, with three distinct sections:
    • The Boughs of Plenty: The harvest and Autumn's bounty.
    • The Lanterns: The horror of approaching winter, very Halloween themed!
    • The Weald In Reverie: A land where dreams and reality mix freely.
  • Nearly 40 handcrafted encounters:
    • Nearly 30 random encounters, covering all three pillars, for players to discover as they explore the Wood's many regions.
    • 3 unique and powerful NPCs to recruit or defeat.
    • Several quest centric encoutners, vital to escaping the Wood alive.
  • 10 unique stat blocks for new monsters and NPCs:
    • 5 all new creatures
    • 5 unique NPCs
  • 16 new magical items:
    • 4 standard magical items, including one powerful (and heavily, heavily cursed) artefact.
    • 12 new "tokens of the dreamers" type magical items, that lose much of their magic if not in the Feywild

this has been really really fun so far and I'm excitedly looking forward to the final installment of the series.

On that note, are there any updates regarding that? I heard you had some struggles and decided to combine part 4 and 5 into one big adventure. Hope you're doing well overall *smaller than 3*

This is so cool, we’ve had great fun with it. There are definitely some areas open to interpretation, but so richly imagined. Next session is the big final battle. Dumb rules question - the Erlking horn’s call to the hunt…this must have some limitation (once a day, etc) - assuming you can’t just keep summoning every round.

Also, Sithis’ final stand mentions thunderwave and gust of wind…these are not granted by the horn, are they?

Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
