The Yeast Heist Fiasco Getaway

Breowburh is a rich walled town and the heart of its economy is its beer, particularly styles of ale characterized by the special strains of yeast used. These are a closely guarded trade secret.

A team of high-end mercenaries was hired and coerced to steal the prised yeast samples. Each was to be paid fifty platinum pieces if they came back with the unaltered samples of eight to ten yeast varieties.

The heist went terribly wrong. Only one member of the original team of four managed to make it out of the Burgomasterʼs Keep, with two yeast vials inside a lead-lined case. Breowburh immediately went on lockdown, the security wizards were mobilised and the criminal underworld caught word of a lone survivor with incredibly valuable goods in their possession whoʼs in dire need of skipping town. This is the player character.

An adventure about escaping the (setting agnostic) town of Breowburh  after barely surviving a bungled yeast heist, for a single 5th level character in D&D 5E:

  • 5-6 hours of escaping this clusterf**k of ridiculous proportions, inspired by that Tarantino movie feeling and immersive sim level design, with an emphasis on player freedom.

  • A handy-dandy flowchart to keep track of all the possible pathways as you go.

  • 6 high-resolution maps, good for virtual tabletops like Roll20  broken down into their smaller sections for convenience as well

  • 3 original magic items

  • 4 original drugs

  • 10 original statblocks

  • 16 traversal encounters

  • Rifles!

TRIGGER WARNING: child abuse

CONTENT WARNING: slavery, police brutality, drugs, debt, blackmail

I'm loving this, and waiting to really digest it before doing a playtest and a review. My question is, how possible would it be to get a printer-friendly copy that doesn't have the backgrounds? This is good one, but my printer is B&W, and even if not, wouldn't want to use all that ink just for paper color. Thanks!

I actually managed to make one with Acrobat Pro. I just deleted all the backgrounds. Can send you a copy if you wish!

I'm currently prepping this to run with a friend, and we're both excited about it. Scheduling is under way but might take a bit. Nice work here. Your sections on running the game give excellent direction and freedom, and the resolutions to the game seem very satisfying. I can't wait to run my friend through this.

I have updated it with better looking statistics (found some mistakes and fixed them as well) and printer family files already, but thanks for offering! Please do link your review and tell me about how it went after you play :)

That's incredible! Thank you. Did we lose the Handy-Dandy flow chart? I still have mine, but don't see it up.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
