Harmonic - A Magical Weapon for Bards

Harmonic was designed to help bards utilize their bardic abilities during melee combat. Though most bards enjoy staying out of melee action, preferring to enhance and cheer on their friends from a distance, there are those who enjoy getting into the middle of the action.

Harmonic allows bards to utilize their known spells during melee combat without using a spell slot. The drawbacks are the bard must be in melee combat, and they must successfully hit their target with the harmonic weapon. In addition, these weapons have limited charges. Using the last charge may result in the weapon vanishing from their hand during combat.

Several versions of this weapon have been created to allow bards with enough coin to purchase a greater powered Harmonic.

The pricing reflects the availability of the item. Not many bards wish to sell their harmonic weapon, and quantities are limited.

Very clever idea for helping some bards feel more proactively engaged in combat and not just primarily support (although support is of course important). I think the bard in the campaign I'm DMing might find this rather appealing, or at lest tempting. A few questions for clarification: Is it correct that the common version does not have the teleporting property? So after the two charges are used, it is just a normal dagger, right? And then regains all charges at dawn? Regarding teleporting, it mentions "to the nearest bard within a 5-mile radius"; so, hypothetically, if it is determined there are no other bards nearby, where does it go? In any case, thanks for the contribution to our gaming fun.

So... it basically gives any character with at least one level of Bard the ability to cast all Bard spells as a Cantrip by trading the Spell Slot for the item's Charge while also reducing their Range to "Touch"? Is that not OP, especially for any spells that already are typically/always point-blank range, such as Thunderclap?
(Serious question, as I'm still fairly new to the game and haven't yet played a bard at all, let alone a higher-level one with all the cool powers).

Are there other items that let you replace Spell Slots with Charges or similar caveats? Because that sounds epic for anyone that would want to be a mage that is competent at close-combat without focusing heavily or at all into multiclassing with melee-oriented classes.

Really interesting Item! But I think as rarity goes up you should remove the vanishing feature totally or perhaps it vanishes to a bard further away, increasing the miles with the rarity.

What if there are two bards in the party? Or two bards fighting each other? Does the weapon pop back and forth?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
