I'm one of the players who's been playtesting these spells for the past year, and I can attest that they are well-designed, well-balanced, and a whole lot of fun. Detect hostile intent and siphon have become mainstays for my divine soul sorcadin, and I'm eagerly looking forward to picking up and playing with assimilate in a few more levels. One of my favorite aspects of these spells is how well each group fits the base theme of blood, shadow, or spirit. Shadow is such a predominant theme in 5e, but there are very few spells that actually FEEL shadow-y, and some of the best ones are locked to warlocks only. Shadow sorcerer enthusiasts will find much to love here. If you're interested in Mercer's blood domain cleric or blood hunter, playing a DA-style blood mage, or just being terrifyingly awesome, the blood magic spells are a creepy delight. And spirit magic is a really fun new spin on divination and support abilities, offering some interesting new utility features too.
