Barovia Notice Boards

Dark quests for misty lands.

Barovia Notice Boards is a supplement with four new quests for a Curse of Strahd campaign. The quests can begin in any settlement, but their destinations are fixed where indicated on the map of Barovia. To run these quests, you need the fifth edition Dungeon Master’s Guide, Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, and Curse of Strahd campaign book. The quests are intended for characters of 3rd level or higher. For groups of higher level, you can increase the difficulty by adding more enemies.

Been looking at this since a friend of mine used it for their Curse of Strahd game, and I was intending to use it for my own, but I had a question before I bought anything - I'm planning on using Roll20 since I don't have Foundry yet, and I was wondering if there were specific settings for Roll20 the maps could work for? My buddy said they had a bit of trouble fiddling around with settings to get it aligned, so I was curious if anybody knows for reference?

Hey! I don't use Roll20, so I can't help you out here, but can't your friend share what he's implemented in Roll20 with you somehow? Or were you talking about different maps? Good luck in any case! :)

Sorry for the late reply; What I mean is that sometimes, some maps aren't optimized for Roll20 gridded maps, so with some maps, it could become unaligned, be larger than the grid in the game, smaller than the grid and game, and it takes a lot of fiddling to get it pixel perfect. I've had issues with this sorta thing with a few different maps, so it's more so a fault of Roll20 than a fault of the creators, but it's always nice to have solutions. Something I'm sure, I, and others, would find extremely helpful is a set of size dimensions, like say, how many squares high and across they are, if they aren't already there.

Anyways, in either case, after playing in a game where this is used, I'd say this is a pretty good supplement either way! I'll try to find time to purchase it myself

Oh WOW!! I wished you'd told me you were making this set when I asked about chopping up your other bulletin board sets. This is what I wanted to use it for. A Barovian Bulletin Board on Foundry! HAH! Thank you SO much for making this. You saved me a WHOLE lot of time. :)

Aren't these the graphic elements from Curse of Strahd? The blood, the line art? Are you legally allowed to use those??

Greetings! I created everything by hand personally, for example the blood is made with brushes and the line with polygons. So that's a yes to answer your question, I'm allowed to use it :)

Wow, then that is a testament to your skills as a graphic designer.

Sorry. I would delete my previous comment if the site allowed me.

Null sweat, I take it as a compliment and thank you. :) I also don't mind people looking out for plagiarism on the DMsGuild. I have often seen contributors use unlicensed art pieces (like MTG cards), so everybody has to keep an eye out to prevent unnecessary litigation for the DMsGuild!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
