A MITHRAL Best Seller, top 1%! That's amazing. I can't believe it. You're all fantastic human beings! Thank you for the support!

--

Oh, no! Santa has been bamboozled! Something is wrong in the toy factory, and the workshop is overrun with frosty foes, wintry wrongdoers, and North Pole ne'er-do-wells.

A team of Santa's elves manages to escape the workshop warzone and recruit a party of adventurers to go take back toyland.

Can our heroes muster enough cheer and joy to make sure all the good girls and boys get their holiday gifts? Or will everyone forever get stockings full of coal...whether they're on the Naughty List or Nice?

"Claus for Concern" has over a dozen holiday and winter-themed magic and wondrous items, maps of all locations, and full custom stat blocks for enemies and bosses!

This adventure is designed for levels 1-5 with scaling adjustments for parties of different levels. Additionally, my estimation is that you can complete the mission in a 3-4 hour session, but you can easily shorten or extend it based on your party's needs.

----

This particular one-shot could go very well in any arctic campaign as a side story, and works particularly well with Rime of the Frostmaiden.

And don't miss out on my other FREE Christmas title, Stocking Stuffers and Side Quests, with 13 new magic items, 5 new monsters and stat blocks, and 2 fun side-quests for your party to show their Christmas spirit. Plus, my Halloween adventure The Liching Hour can still spook your party out even at Christmastime. Just replace Liar's Night with Midwinter or Simril

And don't forget to check the Follow B.J. Keeton in the sidebar box to get announcements of when I have new content to sign up for emails at bjkeeton dot com.

Our group very recently played this as a (somewhat belated) holiday one-shot and we had a blast!
Loved how the holiday theme was omnipresent in such fun and atmospheric ways. The PCs all were plushies come to life (toy story style), so them saving the toy factory, a Claus and the holidays was perfect.

With only three players, all starting at Lvl 1, I had to adjust the encounters quite a bit (took Santa entirely out of the finale, so in our version there's only a Myra Claus), but it worked quite well. Added in a little riddle for the players to solve to get to the secret lab so that it's not just fighting encounters.

If anyone is wondering how to bring the aesthetically christmas-y holiday into Faerun... I decided to attach this adventure to Last Sheaf as one of Waterdeep's holidays - the gift giving involved seemed enough to fit. Sure, still not entirely accurate, but felt right for us. We're playing Dragon Heist at the moment and used this as a fun one shot break from the main campaign,...See more

Hi, just wanted to say thank you for this adventure! My 6 year old wanted to try D&D and I found your Christmas scenario. It worked out really well - it was my first time DMing and my family (wife and two kids) had a blast.

Want to run this as a one shot on Christmas day for my family, but struggling with pregenning PCs for them. Will have 4 players of mixed ability. Any suggestions? Or even better, if you want to share some PCs you already have, you'd be making my Christmas :)

For the maps, if I wanted them printed to poster size+ for use at my table, does anyone know the sizes/parameters of the original files and (preferably) what size I need to upscale them to make 1 in square blocks out of the squares on the maps?

I'd really like to give this module a try, but I have a higher level part (3pcs at lvl 12). Anyone have any recommendations to raise the level to 10+?

We had our (very late) session today, and it was marvellous! Absolutely marvellous!

We ran "A Clause for Concern", an adventure which I strongly, strongly recommend. I initially downloaded it for free, but after playing it through and being so delighted with it, I felt obliged to pay the $2.99 suggested donation.

Unfortunately, I am unable to add a product I already own to my cart. My workaround in this case was to pay $2.99 to the same publisher for a Halloween one-shot. Of course, if I run that and it is equally as good...

I have 1 critique for this one shot. I think the big bad should have some legendary resistances. I ran my players through this and after a single Fear spell they were able to mop the floor with her and the Claws's. It was still fun but the final battle just lost any challenge after a single save or suck spell

Hi B.J.Keeton, I am getting ready to run this by adding items into the homebrew section of Beyond and redoing your maps on Dungeondraft with Forgotten Adventures items (they look so great), and I had a couple questions:

1. the Unmelting Ice Shard, you ask for a roll of d20 when the chart is 1-100, and then you say choose a spell. Im not really familiar with the surge, was this in error?

2. the maps from 8 to 9 are a little confusing, where do I add a landing for the stairs at 9?

Thanks for this module, it looks like fun :), if you would like my version of your maps once Im done building them please dont hesitate to contact me.

Thinking of running this one shot for Christmas, but I had a question. Should I use milestone or xp for player levels? My guess would be xp as there doesn't seem to be any milestone spots, but I wanted to be sure.

I’ve always used the whole adventure as a single Milestone and leveled the party up once at the end. XP would work just as well, and all the values are in the Star blocks by CR (but obviously feel free to adjust as needed).

Getting ready to run this one shot for my group for Christmas
Just had one question.

One of the saves mentions losing all 'Holiday Spirit', it's in italics which makes me think it's a mechanic of some sort. But I can't see where else it's mentioned other than Santa's holiday bag of holding. Can someone explain what Holiday Spirit is and what it does/how to gain it?

It's a debuff for that specific encounter, and I've adjusted the wording in version 1.3.2 to read:

"That player and any player within 5 feet of them must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. If the character fails, they have Lost All Holiday Spirit. This counts as a condition. The player has disadvantage on all attack rolls against Eldara, as well as disadvantage on saving throws for 2 hours. They also lose the ability to smell or taste peppermint and cinnamon, making the holiday season much less enjoyable. This effect continues until the character takes a long rest (or is cured by a Claus)."

Hello, BJ K!
I would like to translate this your adventure into Ukranian, so DMs here could have some fun during XMas and play in their native language. What would you say, is it possible? All credits will be saved of course

Hi! Just purchased this one shot! I have a few questions!
For Myra and her spellcasting, does she have two separate 1st level spell slots for spellcasting 1 and 2? Like two slots for cleric spells and 2 slots for wizard spells? Or would I make it 4 slots total to pick and choose between all of her spells?
Also is she supposed to have saving throws, or was that a typo?
And for the Frosty Winged Kobold, what do you think the DC for the CON saving throw should be for its Chill Wind attack? Its stat block just says to make a CON saving throw. :)
I will have 5 players, do you think if they're all level 5 that this would still be a challenging one shot as things are? I want it to be fun, but not tooooo easy haha.
Thank you!

Hello, Ellen
Myra has 4 spell slots of 1st level: two for Wisdom spellcasting and 2 for Intelligence, as it is said in her statblock. By dnd rules you can use all four slots for any spell of 1st level among those she knows.
About Saving Throws it is definitely a typo, my guess is she is proficient in Int and Wis, as all wizards do, or you can choose cleric saves, which are Wis and Cha.

For Frosty Kobold you may use rules from DMG, which states that easy DC is up to 12, and more difficult DC might be 13-15. My guess is that 10 for that save should be fair enough, although there are DC 15 saves in this aventure, so it might be some kind of "recommended"

As for difficulty, I did not played this adventure yet, and it looks like not very difficult for experienced 5 lvl PCs. I would advise lvl 3 or 4, when they already have one ASI and do not have fireballs :)

Downloaded the Claus for Concern adventure to play with teens at our local public library -- the information included in this adventure made my job so much easier, from completed monster stats to maps. The "pay what you want" element made it possible to share DnD with young minds who have never played, and they all sound so excited about an adventure at Santa's workshop! Thank you so much, BJ!

Gayle, this made my day. My wife worked for 14 years in a public library doing marketing and programming so I am very well-versed in how tight budgets are for any programs and events, especially for kids and teens. I am glad to have been able to help in some small way. :D

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
