I am a little bit confused about why the Goliath kills the wolf. Was it a punishment? I thought the wolf wanted to go with the Goliath, not be killed.

Hello Josh! Great Question. I'll try to answer it as best as I could.

**SPOILER ALERT**

As indicated in Part 1 and Willow's sidebar info, Willow wants to be reunited with his master after he and several other awakened animals were given freedom together with the last mission to spread the word about the Crimson Star. Willow as you can see doesn't want to be free and to be away from his master so he asks the adventurers for help.

In Part 4, when the master was found, Willow communicates his feelings to his master about wanting to be with the druid no matter what. In the conclusion, you see that aside from the roc, the only animals that were near the druid are dead ones (spirits). This is what it means to be with the druid. Only the dead can follow her and since Willow really wanted to spend eternity with his druid master, the druid granted him the gift of death so they can be together.

It's not specifically written in the module, but you will notice why the druid,...See more

Hi Paul, I am excited to run this module tomorrow. I really like Amei Arts' work in this. I like to use the artwork from modules when I can to either display to my players (via the VTT). I also like to use NPC pictures to make tokens. I downloaded the cover poster; is there a chance to get it without the title? Thanks -Brian

Can you clarify whether 'awakened' is some sort of template that alters the stats for the creatures? Or do we just use the regular stat block, and the creatures can just talk

Hi Henry! 'Awaken' is a druid/bard spell found in Player's Handbook that alters a beast's stat. It changes their Intelligence to 10 and they learn 1 language, which in this adventure is Giant. When a beast is mentioned to be 'awakened', if you are the DM, you should alter the beast's stat block and change the Intelligence to 10. Hope this helps!

Hello Paul!
I've just bought this and skimmed over it. I love seeing people implementing/mentioning the safety tools. Though you mention that "common safety tools are provided below" (p. 24) but then there is no follow up. Also, that paragraph breaks formatting.
Looking forward to give it a closer look
Cheers - Kathy

The whole Appendix 2 can actually be seen in most adventurers league adventure. Although it is greatly encouraged to use safety tools in your games, specific examples of it have been removed in Appendix 2 since some might work on others and some may not. It is recommended for DMs and players to find safety tools that will work best at their table.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
