Black Vines of Night

"In the final days, the stars wilted upon the black vines of night as even the dead sprung forth to deliver us from His gaze.

When the skies darkened, only then did we behold His face, and all our wailing could not drown out his silence." - Author unknown

Silence has fallen over Glyth.

On the edge of Faerûn's solar system a great mind flayer empire once ruled.

And then Atropus came.

Amid the ruins, the mind flayer lich Azzulock plots to rebuild the empire in Atropus' dread image.

  • A 4-6 hour adventure for 3-6 level 14-16 characters.
  • Six suggested adventure hooks for getting your Forgotten Realms characters to Glyth.
  • A choice of three companion NPCs, each with their own goals and agenda.
  • Four suggested endings, with choice dependent rewards.
  • Five all new creatures, including the blasphemous "angel of the decay", and the unfortunately named "zombilithid".
  • Stat blocks for three types of spelljammer with four equipable modifications.
  • One new player race: the tragic oortlings.

The printer-friendly version is in no way actually printer friendly. It somehow consists of 24 additional pages to print even though there are no longer images to include that should take up additional space. Many pages have a TON of empty space, I can see how the addition of page breaks should make this easier for running but in some cases that falls real flat. For example The Angel of Decay: In the regular version the Angel of Decay including image, background and entire stat block fit onto a single page. In the printer friendly version the stat block alone overflows onto a second page ... but only just 3 lines on the second page, the Angel's Reactions. There should be no reason that the printer friendly version requires 3 pages to represent a single page of the regular version but with LESS content (the image)!

Furthermore, there is still a background on the entire page, so the printer is still using a ton of ink (toner) in my case printing a "light grey" background on all 54 pages. Bringing...See more

Hi Victor!

Thank you for the feedback! Printer friendly versions isn't something I personally use very often and I am very new at this, so I apologise for the mistakes. I will be uploading a new printer friendly version with no background and some adjustments to reduce the number of pages. I will also be doing so on my other adventure and subsequent ones.

Thanks again for the feedback, its very helpful!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
