Purchased by my Friendly Local Game Store to run and the players had a blast! They laughed by the end that they really shouldn't have come to Icewind Dale, and had a great time interacting with the sidekicks and were genuinely frightened by Frostclaw!

These short episodes can be quite good if the DM really talks up the Sidekicks and what happens with them. Suggest really focusing on right hands from the start. Always suggest letting players purchase Cold Weather Clothing for 10gp (RotFM) before the session as no one in their right mind would be near the spine of the world without it least of all during this time. Overall can be quite fun out side of the last part of section 3.

This was an awesome adventure! I ran this for a group after doing DDAL10-00 and the difference between the two was great fun. Kind of like how Rime of the Frostmaiden offers two starting quests, 1 light hearted adventure chasing Chwingas and 1 creepier murder mystery. DDal10-01 is a much creepier story than DDAL10-00 and being stalked by Frostclaw with the threat of PC death along with the NPCs along with the party was a great teaser for future encounters with the Snowy Owbear.

While I'm usually ForeverDM, I was able to play this on Roll20 recently and really enjoyed the adventure. I like how it resonated with the larger Icewind Dale lore, as well as a creepy tone. I'd like to DM this adventure at some point. Thanks Paige!

This is a great companion to Rime of the Frostmaiden, and the first chapter of the Plague of Ancients Series.
Fun murder thriller!
As written, the sidekicks and NPCs are in mortal danger while the PCs ride along. You can make it more or less difficult depending on your players' preferences.
#1 tip for GM's: have the players name & describe their new sidekick friends!
#1 tip for players: don't get too attached to the sidekicks!
I have run this module about a dozen times for VD&DW.

The players and sidekicks are survivors of an avalanche. Can you stay alive with no winter gear while a monster wants to eat you? This is a great buy for new DMs with a little bit of railroad thrown in.
Note only bought this as some of my players wanted to have a second pc ready for the hardcover.

Does this happen to come with maps for VTT, or are they just pages within the main PDF?

My original maps didn't make it to the adventure. I intend to publish some in my free time.

Decent adventure but waiting & waiting for new S10 adventures is a bit much. How long will we have to wait now for a new adventure? I run weekly or bi-weekly games at FLGS (social distancing in place). With the way the schedule has gone, I'm gonna have to switch to non Icewind Dale adventures or as we are doing now, switch off with someone else to run non S10 AL games after playing this one till the new arrives. Also the format of the adventure leaves a bit of a distaste. The helpful sections, ummmm don't we have starter sets for those? Nice to have a couple of them to reference, but majority of them the DM & most players will know how to do! Again, we have 2 starter boxes & basic rulesets for these, why waste space in a adventure for them??

MAke your own! The Dungeoncraft guidelines and prompts make this pretty easy and fun and if you want to publish here others can play (search DC-POA to see the ones people have published so far)

No worries now, with my county in the extreme category right now as defined by my state governor, the store owners decided to shut down all live gaming till further notice. They didn't feel it was fair to the players to open, close, open, close.

I was thinking about purchasing this, but after requesting a preview (to see if this would fit into my RotFM campaign, as there is not much to go on with the overview) a week ago, there still is no response. So I will not be purchasing.

Not providing names or descriptions of the sidekicks is a big weakness of this module in my opinion.

It was left so the DM could chose them and make them sympathetic for the characters.

Has anyone ran this? Is it any good? A bit more info would be nice since there's no preview available and the synopsis doesn't say much.

it was okay. the owlbear fight was fun. saying "the owl bear uses it's legedary action", or "the owlbear uses it, breath attack." would make you party horrified. =D

I will not be purchasing or running any Season 10 content due to the restrictive nature of the AL Season 10 Rules.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
