The Summoner

The air crackles with power as her focus establishes an arc-like connection with her shimmering, bipedal conduit.

Waves of pure magical energy wash over the land, emboldened by her companion.

A sly smile on his face, the dishevelled-looking human whispers a powerful word into the seemingless innocuous stone within his hand. In the next moment he is atop a large fiery bird leaving the bandits of the forest behind.

A scholar hastily gathers scrolls and tomes in a sack and flings it over her shoulder. Panicked, her gaze wanders to the front door of her study. Loud yells and sounds of wood crashing into wood come from the other side. Her large companion is blocking the attempts to crush the portal with his body's mass.

Summoners are rare individuals that have, intentionally or by chance, discovered secrets to long forgotten contracts with otherworldy beings. Through these contract, extradimensional beings find their way onto the material plane and form alliances with the Summoners.

These relationships can take many forms, from friendship to servitude. However, they are always mutually beneficial.

Overview of the mechanics

The mystical connection between The Summoner and his eidolon grants spell-casting abilities similar to those of a warlock, but with a clear focus on conjuration magic.

Because it's dangerous to go alone, you can choose from three unique types of eidolon that function as archetypes: The Beast, The Mountain or The Conduit.

Each archetype has its own set of distinct evolutions that enhance the eidolon's abilities in fighting (The Beast), tanking (The Mountain) and magic (The Conduit).

A shared health pool helps the summoner and their eidolon to survive most dangerous situations, even though they are fragile on their own.

This new take on the old, classic summoner is fully integrated within the DnD 5e rule framework and much thought was put into keeping rules consistent with the quality standard set by Wizards.

So what can you expect from the Summoner?

  • A new pact-magic class on 14 pages
  • The summoning of handpicked, balanced monsters both at low levels and epic monsters (including a dragon) at higher levels
  • Three archetypes with the The Beast, The Mountain and The Conduit and their unique major evolutions
  • Ten new spells especially for The Summoner
  • 38 guided alterations to customize your eidolon as you level up

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
