Deep in the Sands of Itzcala lies a ruin from a long forgotten age. No one alive today can recall its origins, but it is believed to predate even the first War of the Gods and the construction of the fabled ruins of Tewahca.

Tucked away in the Maztica Boxed Set which was written by Douglas Niles and released way back in 1991, there was a small section called “Other Points of Interest.”

In it, there was a brief mention of a little known ruin called Olbi:

"This is a ruin that even predates Tewahca. Though not so spectacular as the latter, it has secrets and mysteries of its own. (Like Tewahca, its location on the map is approximate.) Olbi is a series of caves, the interiors of which show evidence of keen metal tools, or even magical shaping. They are clean and smooth sided, with a variety of stone statues carved right into the floor. These represent the gods of Maztica. The treasures of Olbi are not so numerous as Tewahca’s, but there are many significant examples of pluma, hishna, magical devices, and gold. These are located in concealed places within the ruins — secret passages, buried in tombs, etc. Typically, a treasure cannot be discovered without an equally significant creature or force protecting it."

This book finally brings that ruin to light thirty years after its first mention and all of its secrets are here for your players to discover.

MZA5 The Ruins of Olbi is an adventure written in an old school “dungeon crawl” format. The crawl itself is not balanced for any particular levels, but at a bare minimum PCs should not explore its halls and caverns unless they are at least 6th level.

As it mentions in it’s original description, Olbi is full of new magics - though the truth is that their creation is actually quite ancient. A group of outcast plumaweavers and hishnashapers alike once lived within Olbi and now a creature of unknowable madness and power dwells within its dark and quiet halls.

Are your PCs ready to explore the Ruins of Olbi, where the rewards are great, but the dangers are even greater?

The True World Campaigns (and tagging system):

The True World Campaigns encompasses the books which are linked in the images below.  These campaigns are set mostly in the Forgotten Realms to the west of Faerûn proper on the continental landmass which encompasses Maztica, Anchôromé, Lopango and Katashaka.  It also delves into some planar connections which are more commonly accessed from these lands than elsewhere on the world of Toril.  The books are broken down into smaller campaign regions and are tagged in such a way as to properly identify each product.

MZCANC, LPC, etc:  The main campaign guides for subregions of the True World Campaign.  In this case representing the "Maztica Campaign Guide" and "Anchôromé Campign Guide" respectively.

MZSANS, LPS, etc:  The "S" is used to represent major supplements, whether they are a monster manual for each campaign or a major regional supplement.

MZA, ANA, LPA, etc:  The "A" in this case is used to represent a dedicated campaign adventure.

MZM, ANM, LPM, etc: Small, article sized supplements are tagged with the letter "M."

I have not ran this campaign for my party yet but having read through it several times I am very impressed. This looks like a solid well written campaign that shouldn't take too long to play but definitely packs a lot of story. Really looking forward [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
