“Several days into the forest and the end of a long and windy trail a small village is nestled in amongst the trees. its cobblestone streets are coated in fallen leaves and pumpkins grow on every roadside. plooms of black smoke rise from the cheminies of several cottages that cluster together making up the town proper. in the north the high tower of a temple to the harvest goddess Tissah can be seen rising above the rooftops. on the way into town a lonely windmill slowly turns in the autumn breeze creaking loud enough to be heard from the road. as the wagon pulls up to the village square, in the shadow of a large clock tower, people can be seen going about their evening chores, stowing goods in market stalls, and unloading wagons of plentiful vegetables from the harvest."

Nice adventure! I'm a little confused, though. Where do the entrances to the witch's lair connect to? It looks like the storehouse connects to the apothecarium and the living room of the blacksmith's house connects to the main entrance, but where does the entrance to the north exit on the surface? The parlor of the bunk room? Did I miss where that's described? BTW, who lives in the cottage with the parlor and bunks?

As for the infernal memorandum, the text says that the players can decode one page per short rest with an ability check. How many pages are there? What's on each page? Is one name from the coven on each page? When is it appropriate for the memorandum to summon its devil for the day? Which names in the book map to which cottages in the town proper?

Thanks!

There is a trap door in each of the two cottages in the center of the town proper and the storehouse in the south. the northern one can barely be seen sticking out from the corner of the southern most bed in the northern cottage. Abraham and Grettle live in the southern house and Randal and Braina live in the northern one.

When the infernal memorandum summons its demon is up to the DM. You may use it as a way to steal the memorandum from the players and make them go looking for it, or perhaps just use it as a random encounter, or dont use it at all. the book may even summon the devil to aid the pumpkin witch in combat, or to defend itself from the players when they first find it.

As far as how many pages that is also up to the DM. I left it open in such a way that you could drag out the sequence as long as you wanted, or have them succeed one check and get all the information. personally when I run the quest, i let them have all the information on one successful check, as long as they...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
