"Filling in the gaps in the core books, this is another brilliant work by Wyatt!" - David R., purchaser of Halaster's Game

"You'd be madder than Halaster if you didn't BUY THESE SUPPLEMENTS!" - Travis C., purchaser of DotMM Companion 1

"AMAZING. One of the most useful tools to create fun and interesting aspects of DOTMM, this is a must buy product for anyone who is overwhelmed by the complexity of the dungeon or just wants to add fun new twists to the adventure." - Anna J., purchaser of DotMM Companion 2

The Dungeon of the Mad Mage Companion is a massive supplement aimed at improving upon and fleshing out Dungeon of the Mad Mage while simultaneously making it easier for you to run. This bundle contains Levels 1-3, Skullport, and Halaster's Game.

Within this supplement, you'll find (in brief):

  • Roleplaying Halaster Blackcloak. The Mad Mage has been rewritten as a deranged gameshow host whose program, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, is broadcasted across the multiverse. It's within this insidious game that the players have found themselves trapped.
  • DM Notes. Quick notes for every chapter, summarizing.
  • Variants Galore. Where something could be polished, or where it ought to have been abolished, the Companion provides you variants you can use—be it a rewritten narrative, new foes, or alternate encounters.
  • Magic Items. All magic items used throughout these levels have been detailed, as have their locations, so you don't need to leaf through the DMG.
  • Monster Statblocks. You guessed it: the monsters used throughout these levels have been compiled and their statblocks reproduced for your convenience.

This has been amazing for my FGU game. I love these products, (used the Dragon Heist one before this) and had great success adding new depth to Level 1 of Mad Mage so far. I really like the random encounter table in particular, and feel that the Skullport content was a great way to fill in the gaps of the main book. I didn't care for the game show angle they suggested, as it felt anachronistic, but it was easily altered/edited out. It's a great set of alternate takes on the scenarios that a DM can pick and choose from to change things up, and while I don't use all the suggestions, I like how it gets me thinking about how to flesh things out and add more crunch or fluff as needed. The read aloud text is also a great addition - just what Mad Mage needed... not too much, and not in every room, but just the right amount. I really appreciate that they give you two versions - game show and vanilla.

Hi Darren ... I apologize for missing this before. The table is complete: there are 25 "This episode brought to you by" and 25 "And now, a word from our sponsors" ads. In the PDF they're numbered by twos to 100. In the FG module I numbered them from 1 to 50. Exact same content and distribution, just less numbers. :)

Badger ... I somehow missed Darren's comment. Hopefully my post answers your question?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
