I'm really looking forward to running this for my group. However, the text in the boxes from pages 3-8 is so light that I can't read it. My pdf reader only sees them as images so I can't highlight them to change anything. Do you have a suggestion?

Thanks

Hello,
I just added a plain text/ printer friendly version. It will show up in the Updated Title section of your account page.

Hope that helps.

Hello! I'd like to get ahold of the creator of this one-shot! I have some maps I've made for the Kitten Rescue and was wondering if they would be interested in having them for free! I've made a bookstore map, a warehouse map, and even a tower map for my group. Please let me know if you'd be interested! :)

Hello, I hope your group enjoyed the adventure.

I think it would be awesome if you made your maps available for purchase on DMs Guild. I’d be happy to put a link to your product in the adventure’s description to help folks find it.

We absolutely loved the adventure! It was so fun to DM and my group absolutely loved playing it. I may just do that and make them free to the public.

I'll be sure to credit you as the author and myself as the artist if that's okay with you.

The maps are your creation so you should be credited as author and artist.
Can't wait to see what you have created.

I'm excited to run this and planted the story hook during last week's game. But what's to stop the party from just keeping the kitten? My players are a bunch of animal lovers, so this would not be out of character. Any advice to guard against this?

I hope your group enjoys it. What I would do if the party decides to keep the kitten, is allow the characters time to shop for their new pet or make any other preparations they wish to make. Homeward Bookshop can be a place where cat supplies can be purchased if you wish to have the party visit that location early on.

Even if the party decides to not use the Homeward Bookshop content and go directly home with the kitten you can adapt the chapter 3 content to have the kitten run away from them and head to the Yawning Portal to find Casia.

Hope that is helpful.

Hi! I'm a newbie DM planning to run this for my group, letting our usual DM finally play a bit. Two players already asked me if they can take the Speak with Animals spell, so I'm wondering if you have any ideas for how to deal with that? I can tell the very first thing they will do is cast that, so I was thinking of giving the poor kitten amnesia after she hit her head during the transformation or something. Any better ideas? I was also thinking that maybe the animal form is restricting her communication in some way as well.

If you don't want the characters to figure out who the kitten is right away, you can have it that Laela is a bit startled by the sudden transformation that rather than answer any questions she just remarks on how large and loud everything is and how small she is.

Of course if you want, you can also have the characters discover right away that the kitten isn't really a kitten. If you decide to let them figure it out right away you can either skip over the first bookshop encounter or have Laela suggest visiting this shop for help.

Hope that helps a bit.

Since the site won't allow me to leave a proper review, I'm going leave my comments here.

Waterdeep: Kitten Rescue is a well-designed and enjoyable adventure. I found it to be the perfect break from the typcial stop-the-evil and combat scenarios. My players did manage to figure out the most of the surprise quickly by talking to the kitten within the first 10 minutes (I should have known when the party consisted of three gnomes, druid, bard, and wizard, and a firbolg druid). I was still able to keep them running around until finally reaching a very satisfying ending.

I have a publisher account so can't officially leave a review, but this is a superb adventure, and I already have people desperate to play it. It's well structured and delivers both a lot of cute moments and a good amount of player choice.

Five stars!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
