The Brewski Jubilee

ADD TO WISHLIST >

There is now a Roll20 VTT Add-On for this title.

The Brewski Jubilee is a standalone adventure that can also be used as part of a downtime session in a larger campaign. It is a level 5 adventure for three to five players, but can be adjusted for different levels of play. This adventure has an estimated 3-4 hours of playtime.

Adventure Background

The Brewski Jubilee is an annual celebration that commemorates the tapping of the first keg of the season. Each year at the Brewski Jubilee, the Brewski Hopstacle Course takes place. While the course wasn’t an original part of the day’s festivities, it put the Brewski Jubilee on the map.

Adventure Hook

Olga the Obliterated has won the Hopstacle Course for the last eight years running and is looking to attempt her ninth win at tomorrow’s event. Several NPCs are interested in hiring adept adventurers to challenge her title.

Inside Includes

  • An adventure outlining how the party gets involved in the Hopstacle Course, suggested NPC tactics for the course, and suggestions for scaling the adventure to match party composition
  • An appendix with detailed information about each named NPC
  • A classic 2D-styled map with a DM's View and a Player's View
  • A modern 3D-styled map with a grid and gridless as well as a hi-res version for professional printing
  • VTT tokens for all Hopstacle Course characters and creatures

This adventure was made possible, in part, by the RPG Writer Workshop.

Reviews

I ran this one-shot for a ren-faire weekend get-together, the table included someone who had never played D&D before and someone else who hadn't played in years. Even though this adventure is for level 5 characters, it was really easy for my new players to get into it as it's not a complicated story and the mechanics are flexible enough that you can keep things moving at an exciting pace. The stakes aren't high but high enough that everyone at the table wants to win this drinking competition!

And the layout is fantastic!

My players had so much fun with this. The actual obstacle course race was well thought out and it was fun to have the players make Con saves after each drink. They still talk about it as a highlight of the campaign.

This Adventure is an ABSOLUTE delight to read and to run. Every time I have seen it played it has had different outcomes and twists - well written and memorable

I bought this adventure on a whim, so I didn't have high expectations. Nevertheless I am here to tell you that my group, a bunch of diehard D&D gamers who have been playing together since 2nd edition, enjoyed it immensely! This is particularly telling since one of the players is the type who always wants to fast-forward to the combat - but he was enjoying himself as much as anyone as the race was underway.

The NPC design is effective, with the brief descriptions of each character nevertheless providing ample personality for the DM to riff off of. The challenges in the race were varied enough that even characters who I thought would plow through the obstacles without issue still found themselves challenged by the other racers. This is exactly the kind of prewritten adventure I like to run - chock full of flavor, simple in execution, and with loads of potential hooks.

A lovingly crafted romp, packed full with heart and panache.

Plays easily in under 4hrs, tons of non-combat action and room for player shenanigans.

I'd recommend this fantastic downtime adventure for any group!

This was supposed to be a review, but I'm a goddamn peepaw and put it in as a comment instead AND NOW CAN'T DELETE IT.

Ugh.

I'm hoping to run this in my homebrew. From the initial read it looks like a fun few hours. I like having challenges that don't involve combat.

I had the joy of editing this adventure and trust me, you want to play this! It's fun, low stakes, and easy to run, perfect for a first time DM or a quick interlude in a larger campaign. I am planning to run this adventure as my first attempt at DMing!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
