When Madness Calls

(From the Participants of the ENnie award winner for Best Online Content - Silver - RPG Writer Workshop)

"No other person in Faerun except Hubert Pierre Lorentz has made such a huge breakthrough in writing fictional horror story. His vivid, grotesque, and terrifying descriptions evoked the sense of fear to those who read it. But after years of tenure, he has somehow disappeared from the multiverse.

Only his books are the reminder that this man once existed. Because of this, the adventurers have been hired (or took it upon themselves) to find H.P. Lorentz.

Lorentz’s last known location is his mansion, somewhere in Dessarin Valley. With that, the adventurers will have to uncover not just the truth about Lorentz’s disappearance, but also something dark and sinister that might invoke madness and destroy their sanity."

Excited to be running this module this weekend for a Halloween one shot! I do have a question though. Would Arabella reveal where HP is if asked by the party?

Thank you! Looking forward to your group's thoughts on the module, and excited to hear about their experience~

As for Arabella and HP, I think she would try to hide it or at least lie in some sort of way. Either she will say that HP is currently preoccupied with something, or she'll say that he's away, not in the manor. She wouldn't be straightforward about his whereabouts.

I'm Phonestar/Paul from the playtest m/ would like to recommend this module for everyone veteran and new. You don't even need to really be a hardcore HPL fan to enjoy this module since the setting itself can be quite immersive. Please try it.

I'm Anggoro, a.k.a Rosenkov, i did play in the playtest of this module as credited in it. And i have to say that this module is fun for those who enjoy a little bit of mystery and horror, especially if you are a fan of HPL's work.

Though i don't really read HPL's books, i still enjoy that "lovecraftian" aspect.

No module is perfect, however this module is up to par and perhaps even beyond. and also DM's creativity must always be considered when a module is used.

There is one scene in this module that is easily my favorite, it's a cool and tense scene.

All-in-all, I believe that you will enjoy this module, should you decide to get it.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
