THE BLIZZARD OF AXE AND SWORD: A TIER TWO ADVENTURE

"This is a seriously super saga of epic proportions is perfect as its own adventure, as part of Storm King’s Thunder or as an appetiser and/ or accompaniment to the upcoming Icewind Dale action!" @CurseofSebs

"The Blizzard of Axe and Sword is a shining example of what brutal adventures should be. The environment and character decisions are just as, if not more, important to success than blind fights or traps ... It stands out in a way that’s fitting to describe more as a mini-campaign than a mere adventure." Roll4network.com

BATTLE FROST GIANTS ACROSS THE FROZEN NORTH OF FAERUN!

Starting with the battle to save the village of Lamastop and ending a Frost Giant's ice palace, the BLIZZARD OF AXE AND SWORD takes tier two player characters on an epic adventure across the snowy north. Fight through blizzards, atop frozen lakes and glaciers, and take on the might of a Frost Giant Jarl and his clan in battle!

Fully compatible with Storm King's Thunder, The Whitefaire Adventurer's Guide, or the forthcoming Rime of the Frost Maiden, this 57 page full colour book features seven different campaign environments, each packed with encounters to challenge your players. The choice of route is up to the players, whether to go underground or atop the mountain pass, or beneath the mountains into a dark dungeon.

This book also includes a wide range of NPC's to work alongside. You and your players can lead a Deep Gnome revolution against their Duergar oppressers, or fight alongside a ice-mermaid clan atop a glacier lake!

Featuring unique magical items such as the Ghost Blade or the fabled Hammer of Harandar, the adventure book is packed full of creative challenges and battles to test the character's will, bravery and strength in the face of overwhelming odds.

Will you be strong enough to defeat Jarl Torrfin and his giants, or will the terrible violence of his blizzard overwhelm you?

Includes:

4 Character Stat Blocks
2 Unique Monster Stat Blocks
5 Powerful and unique magical Items
5+ Full Colour Maps

And if you enjoyed this, take a look at this adventure's sequel - THE KINGS OF FIRE AND FORGE!

Seems to be a problem with the labelling of the Ironhunter Mine Map.
In the text area D is described as both Storeroom and Slave Barracks.
E - the second mine face appears to be mislabelled on the map as it is a through run area.
Any thoughts or updates please?

First, thanks for the purchase - I hope that you found the rest of the book enjoyable!

I'll probably do an update soon. The book has been out for almost a year now and it needs tuning up. Obviously, this will update with previous purchasers. Keep an eye out for it!

For now, you can move or ignore room E in the Ironhunter Mine. It should have been the very northern room (the other through room, with the long wall face). You can move the Store room or Slave Barracks to point E, though I would suggest that Point D works better as the slave barracks and Point E works well as the store room.

Thanks for the question!

It's designed for Tier 2, so four players at level 5 and higher. I would suggest that somewhere between level 6-9 is probably the sweet spot for this adventure. It's pretty deadly.

okay, since this was part of the free content. Is it Adventure League Legal?

Hi, thanks for the comment! This wasn't designed as an AL adventure, just as a play-as-you-like adventure. It can certainly be used alongside Storm King's Thunder, but can also be played as a separate adventure or within another cold environment.

So ... sorry, but I don't think so.

Minor edit needed: on page 40 it mentions the “Ice Drake’s Chain (see below)” but there isn’t a star block for this item, at least not one I could find.

Oh dear! Alright, I'll look into that and issue an amendment. It's probably just an error by me.

This is an expanded product page quote and review placeholder until I have the spoons to finish my indepth review. Only got a little sleep last night after being up nearly 48 hours and struggling even writing this, but my excitement for this awesomeness cannot be contained! So excited to share. My full thoughts as soo. As I’m able!

CW: Slavery – Svirfneblin by Duregar (although this entire area can be avoided)

Presented beautifully and ridiculously well thought out, this is a seriously super saga of epic proportions is perfect as its own adventure, as part of Storm King’s Thunder or as an appetiser and/ or accompaniment to the upcoming Icewind Dale action! From the quaint, tranquil village of Lamastop beset by a Frost Giant raiding party, The Blizzard of Axe and Sword blazes a trail through the land of the ice and snow, across beautiful bleak snowy mesas or through the decidedly unabandoned mine that has...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
